Why do kids go to school in pajamas?

Is this everywhere? Or am I just seeing it in my area. I started noticing kids walking home from school in their pajamas some time back. Both young kids and teenagers. It's not often I really see school kids seeing as I'm still at work most days around school's-out hour, but when I have seen them I scratch my head wondering why the hell some kids are in pajamas. Which means they probably did not shower in the morning, and which is particularly unhygienic for the teenagers who are in puberty and have fast hormones.

Does this go on where you live? And if so, why are these kids in pajamas?

That seems so extreme to me. Here in Japan, uniforms are still mandatory for all students like this:

I'm thinking it's a comfort move. Couple times a year our children have a pajama day, although I think our oldest will not have that anymore starting next fall. Our kids bathe every night before they go to bed, so I'm hoping they'll keep that tradition going as they age🤣🤣

they just haven't realized what comfortable clothes actually are, I can't imagine being in pajamas all day. I think it would get hot.

Yeah. My daughter does that too. She has home pajamas and other ones she wears out. I don’t get it. It’s ridiculous but it’s equally harmless so I just ignore it. Seems silly to me.

Most likely comfort. In high school almost all of the girls would wear sweatpants or yoga pants because that's what was comfortable for them. I just wore jeans though.

Can see no issue at all with sweatpants or yoga pants - yoga pants are super hot on older women. But wearing pajamas just makes no sense to me.
