How do you feel about a restaurant picking up the phone to tell you they're closed?

Had a conversation back when I used to work at my friend's place and he got mad at me for picking up the phone to tell someone we were closed.

"That's the ultimate cock tease, it's like saying, I'm here and can totally make your order, I'm just not going to"

Lol but I think it's more like I'm not gonna let you waste your time listening to a ringing phone for 3 minutes like a crazy person.

What would you prefer?

Pick up the phone and tell me you're closed, coward!
Why would you pick it up? That's insulting
