If beauty is temporary, why do some people strive to get it?

The rewards might last substantially longer and there can be paintings and photos and the like to capture their moments in time, like photos of an ice sculpture bound to melt soon after it's sculpted.

Same for intelligence and anything else as I see it. It's all temporary, as with life in general.

Here beauty and youth have long since faded along with her life (she died in 1954), but her moments of beauty won't be forgotten so long as there are people to keep her history alive along with her intelligence and charm.

Or Arnie as former Mr. Olympia. He's nowhere even close to this physique now in his 70s but he will be remembered for a very long time as the greatest of his time period and rather revolutionary to the world of bodybuilding able to combine so much mass and leanness at the same time:

Can push this question further like why strive for anything? Life itself is temporary, fleeting. It's all going to fade away like footprints in the sand. Yet I think it's worth thinking this way to find deep meaning in the fleeting nature of the universe:
