Were kids obsessive with phones back in the years of 2010 and 2011 compared to kids in 2020-2024?

The phones from back then i remember was blackberries and flip phones people were using then, iphones were coming out but it wasn’t big back then like it is now. I was young then too and I felt was a different time, I didn’t worried about a phone while I was doing what kids were doing back then? Nowadays, these kids who are younger got phones with them in school and do tik tok all day. When I was growing up, the only tick tock I knew was on a clock ⏰ tik tok didn’t exist yet hell even instagram back then wasn’t like it how it is now.

My oldest was born 2006 and my youngest 2011. During this time period. Really, from about 2010 onwards, I'd say it was tablets that were all the crazy thing. My oldest had a Amazon Fire. And from 2014 my youngest had her own cheap tablet (cheap cos mostly she would drop and crack them). My oldest was jealous of her friends Samsung tablet. So it was pretty intense. Now tablets have gone further out as phones have got better and better at doing everything in one device. So it is crazier I guess. But it's always been a big thing for the kids growing up!

Well I’m actually a few years older than your kids a bit and I can say being I was a kid back then during those years, I don’t remember any kid especially myself having no phone or iPad. Because during that 2010-2011 period, that was when kids still would playing outside with friends, played with toys, and not talking with them on their phones. Most people back then just had flip phones back then not smart phones unless you was rich.

I got my first iPhone in 2010. It was right after I broke up with my husband and was better off financially as a single mum so I remember it well.

I took a 5th grade class on a class trip around 2013-2014…We road the cheese bus… she left her phone in the bus. We all knew we would return to the same bus.
she was so worry about her phone, she couldn’t focus on our trip.
so yeah… that was the beginning of the addiction. Much worse now.

Not at all.. Even when I was in Highschool in the late 00s to the early 10s kids were still hanging skipping class just to talk to the homies and not on phones..

Exactly I was younger at the time and remember it well. Back then, that was when kids were still kids and technology wasn’t like it was now and it was such a different time still you know. Nowadays, these kids all they do is make tik tok videos, act grown, and even babies know how to work phones better than us

And for real, I bet half these kids never even played real outside games before. Like you think any of em know what "Tag" or "It" is without it being some Fortnite dance or TikTok challenge? No way!

But man I tell ya, take their phone away and they won't know what hit em. Try getting them to play manhunt in the dark without shining flashlights on their stories. I bet they'd freeze up not knowing what to do without a screen.

It's just mad funny to think how much has changed, you know? Like we really had it easy being kids before all this tech took over and how much it as a different time. These little kids depend on it way too much if you ask me. One day the power goes out and it's gonna be a wrap for em! 😂😂They won't know what to do with themselves.

Parents now just don't discipline their kids the way mom would've slapped you into shape. Now instead of punishing their demon seeds, they just shove an iPod in their face to shut em up. No wonder all these kids act so entitled.

I'm just glad I barely got to grow up before all this BS took over. Even the current little kids don't stand a chance with those soft millennials in charge. We ain't raised like that tho, we survived the good old days 😤

No one I knew had phones back then, thankfully. I didn't get my first phone till I was 29 years old, and that was only because of work. No one really needs a phone.
