Child: You smell like cake.

Me: Really? It's probably my body spray. It's vanilla scented.

Child: *Silence*

Me: Do you like my outfit? I like your pink shirt.

Child: *pauses and checks out my sweats/hoodie* ...*shakes head no* It's not good. Only your hair.

At my high school we did community service at the end of our senior year instead of going to class, and I volunteered at a Head Start. I mostly just played with blocks and colored, which was OUTSTANDING, lmao, but once in a while something would happen and you’d have to intervene, and we had license to put them in “time out”, and make them sit on a beanbag chair for X amount of minutes.

We had this one 3 year old little kid who I loved to death but he would act up once in a while, and he DEFINITELY had an older sibling or two because he had a FOUL mouth.

He went nuts one day and I’m like “alright, you’re sitting on the bag for ten.” I grabbed him up and sat him on the beanbag. I got in close, and I think I was like “if you get off this thing it’s gonna be twenty minutes, you hear me?” Kid goes “NO, punk BITCH!!!”, and he SPIT IN MY FACE😱😱😱😂😂😂 Most of it went on his own shirt, actually, lmfao, but he definitely got me, and it took me everything I had to not bodyslam him😂😂😂 Most of the time he was my buddy though, haha, sweet kid in his heart.

Bonus story (good news, it’s LONG, lmao, jk)….

So, I have an older half-brother with special needs, and his mentality is very childlike, especially in the brutal honesty department. He’s a riot😂

I didn’t grow up with him, he’s like 25 years older than me, he was from my dad’s first marriage. My mom loved him but was easily irritated by him, haha.

So, my mother was HUGE on cards, like Hallmark cards or whatever, at Christmas, her birthday, Mother’s Day, etc. Like she’d get WAY more choked up than she should have, as if the sentiment printed in the card had been written by us, lmao. So the routine was you’d give her the card, watch her face, and as soon as she started crying, my dad and I would look at each other and smirk😂

So my bro gives her a card one Christmas. She opens it, and reads the front cover aloud: “For a wonderful stepmom…” She starts reading the inside silently, and a few seconds in, right on cue, here come the waterworks. She goes “oh, Robbie…this is just a BEAUTIFUL card!” Dude says (totally deadpan, and almost disinterested in the verbal interaction, like always)….”Yeah, it was the only card they had at the store for stepmothers.”💀💀💀💀💀💀

I’ll never forget the look on her face, she was so offended😂😂😂

My senior year of high school, I was leaving at like 6:30 AM for my Thanksgiving Day football game (that’s a thing around here, haha), and my mom is already hard at work in the kitchen, getting ready to host our whole family that afternoon. My bro had stayed the night before, and he comes walking in and sees her wrist-deep in a bowl, mixing stuffing together. He goes, “oh, are you making us French toast for breakfast? Or just sausages and eggs?”

That's hilarious and awesome! I don't think I had quite a case like that.

Yet I had one where I was playing a Super Mario game on the new Nintendo home console (I've lost touched these days with the names) with my nieces and nephews in law.

I was playing together with them and totally pwning it. My Super Mario skills that I developed in the 80s and 90s on NES/SNES were still there. My nieces and nephews were just dying all over the place and floating back up into the air after they died repeatedly while I was dashing and dodging obstacles left and right.

Then my nephew-in-law (only 7) paused the game and got pissed:

Nephew: Uncle, you're hogging all the power-ups!

Me: Yeah, I want them! Finders keepers!

Nephew: We're a team! We're supposed to work together! You're being selfish!

Me: Oh. I thought it was a competition!

Nephew: No, it's not a competition! We're supposed to work together!

Me: Oh! My bad!

Nephew: Psshhhhh. [Unpause and resume game].

Very good one and I felt really guilty after that. While we were playing, I was laughing in an evil way like, "Haha! I'm leaving you all in the dust! Speeeeed run! Hurry up, you all are slowing me down!" Then after he had his little talk with me, I was thinking, "I'm kind of an asshole." 😅 After that I turned team player and didn't try to dash so much, staying with the team, giving others the mushroom and other power-ups.

I'm kind of a jerk sometimes to kids but I've noticed a lot of them like it. For example, I was at a picnic one time long ago (before I met my wife) and one of my friends brought her little daughter.

Then the little daughter wanted to arm wrestle the guys. So all my guy friends let her win and pretended to lose, complaining that their arm hurt while complimenting her strength. She then got to me and put her out out and challenged me. So I slammed it down while she's like, "Ow!"

Then I started gloating like, "I'm the absolute strongest! The undisputed champion of the picnic! Ladies and gentleman, put your hands together for [insert my name]!" Then I started teasing all my guy friends like, "Technically that makes me stronger than all of you!" The girl was also getting into it like, "Wow, you're so strong. You're the strongest guy here!"

Then my guy friends were like, "Wait a minute! Let me arm wrestle you!" Me: "No way sore loser, I beat her and she beat you and that makes me stronger than all of you! I'm the champion! Yay! Yay!" Little girl: "You are the champion! You're so amazing!"

So she really liked me and hung out with me all day after that. 😂
