Why have my parents mounted an additional lock to the bedroom door?

It's the type of lock that can only be activated from inside the room. My parents are both in their late 60s and I find it kind of interesting.

If it's a lock in your room, that you control; It might just be they want you to be able to have privacy.

If I was to speculate, they may have idly walked in on you in some compromising situation (and just left quickly) and feel that providing you with a lock will avoid future issues (as a possible answer).

If it's their bedroom; Perhaps they are concerned that someone in the household is taking stuff, or possibly they are doing something kinky and don't want their kids to accidently walk in on them.

Can't think fo any other reasons myself though.

Well, I suspect their looking to avoid an embarassing incident with someone walking in on them when their being romantic.
