Which of these synonyms for 'ghost' do you prefer most?

"Apparition" or "spectre" or "phantom" if I don't know anything specific about it. I went for "apparition". The other words tend to veer towards deeper connotations just with the way I interpret them personally.
I also don't believe in ghosts in the sense of thinking the empirical evidence we have is weighted towards their existence vs. their nonexistence. I think it's heavily weighted towards their nonexistence.
So that might be why I favor a certain language to describe them over something more extravagant like, "poltergeist" which implies not only an "apparition" but something that interacts in the material world and causes mischief.
I like the word "apparition" because it sounds cool and reminds me of years past. When I saw 'ghost' in the title, I initially thought that this question would have to do with abruptly withdrawing from communication with somebody, and I'm glad that that impression was erroneous.
Phantom with poetry/ literature, or professional talk. If need be, lol.
apparition with religion.
ghost as informal and everyday life sorta thing. But NOT everyday life, lol.
I usually use ghost, but spectre and wraith are also cool
