Why or why didn't humans invent the afterlife (possibility) as a coping mechanism for life's ups and downs?

I'd like to think so. And that doesn't make it any less true or less false that there could potentially be other realms/other realities, if there ever is a next life or next lives for any soul lol after a long life lived of this mortal realm lol. As unscientific and implausible, sure. Yet, humour the question a little that I pose for thought provoking 💬🤔

There could be many possibilities differed by many cultures. One could be purpose of existence. Why do we exist and what our purpose in life is. Is there another chapter after this. A squeal as it may. That explains more than we are exposed too. Or is it just another way to advance our evolution. We expanded our limitations in one dimension and now the soul is left to harbour something new. Science and spirituality cannot and should not define everything. Makes life a better sims play through that way

Because the self IS the body, so it's non-transferable.

Any successful attempt would just be copying the self, not transfering it, and thats assuming it can even be copied (it most likely can't be, even a clone is a different person with different memories).
