I don't have kids but as a kid I attended many sleep overs but never with a friend I hadn't known for a long time. I wouldn't let my future kid sleep over at a kids house they barely know. I started having sleepovers with my best friend that I met when I was 4 (she was 3) when we were 5/6 but by that point our parents had met a few times and we had hung out a lot. Personally I think I was too young, there was many nights that I went to stay that I ended up wanting to leave in the middle of the night. Thankfully my friends parents were incredibly understanding of this and rung my parents to come get me or dropped me off home. I think by the time I was 7 or 8 I was more comfortable staying over. I don't know if i would set that age for my kids as a hard rule but an ideal one. They would also take a charged phone with them so they can contact me if they need to.
I don't have children yet but I would never let my children sleep over at another person's house without my supervision. I've seen a lot of horrible things that happen to kids because their innocent parents' trusted that they will be safe and unharmed. Lucky if nothing happened to yours but I've seen a lot of horrible stuff to let it happen.
Ah yes it’s all coming back to me now. I remember about 115 years ago back in 2015 when I was a wee lad and stayed the night at my best friend’s house. We played with Soda cans doing voice overs with them and drank from the backyard hose dubbing it “Nature Water”. Then later in our little fort when watched Dragon Ball Super when it was still airing and Toei or Funimation, whoever’s washed ass was making it all those centuries ago wasn't sucking off that trash One Piece like a high school who wanted to grow up too fast and payed the price. Those assholes….
I let my kids attend sleepovers. There was one where my daughter was staying over with a girl who lived in the affordable housing project. I was not crazy about the idea but I figured if I said that she couldn't go it would make her want to go even more. When I picked her up the next morning the mother was lying on the couch. She did not even get up to introduce herself. Then I find out that my 12 year old daughter was wearing makeup. I was pretty pissed.
I’m the projects really, that is so sad with the mother and your daughter wearing makeup?

I absolutely would not. Not until they are 18. I was never allowed to sleep at my friends houses. Even though we’ve been friends since 7 years of age. The first time I got to sleep at my best friends house, I was 17 and my mom set up and interview with their mom at their place.
Sleepovers are a good way for kids to learn social skills.
When our kids were young, they often had sleepovers. Sometimes at the other's house, sometimes at our house. One on one was most common, but occasionally there'd be 4 or 5 kids in the sleepover, especially girls.
We had two basic rules for sleepovers...
1. You have to follow whatever rules the parents in the house set.
2. Only boys or only girls, no co-ed sleepovers
I think it would depend on how well supervised I thought it was going to be. If I trusted the adults to take care of the children then I don't see anything wrong with it. It's fun for the kids and as long as they're safe that's great.
not at the moment because eldest is 4. When they can truly communicate properly then they can.
Oh god yes!! Free babysitting? Haha. Unfortunately 9 out of ten times they wanted the sleepovers at mine more than other way round.
And now mine are teens... guess I have to wait for them to move out to get some space! LOL
My parents let us go to sleepover and have friends over our house too.
Growing up I was never allowed to go on sleepovers unless it was my aunt's house. I don't think I will allow my kids to have sleepovers either. I don't see the point. They have a house and a bedroom to sleep in.
i didn't really go to sleepovers until i was a teen and then you had horny dads "checking in" on you all the time and trying to isolate you from the herd. there were horny brothers too but sometimes that was a good thing
That never happened in my sisters' sleepovers. My father wasn't a horndog trying to hit on their friends, nor was I. If anything, my sisters' girlfriends were MUCH MORE LIKELY to hit on me !!!
Cringe
@RedInnocent69 What's "cringe" about being so handsome your sister's girlfriends hit on you, which frequently happened with me?
@handsomelad70 “horny dads "checking in" on you all the time and trying to isolate you from the herd.” It’s not all about you, heartthrob.
@RedInnocent69 At least you got the "heartthrob" part right.
I don’t have kids but if I ever have them no sleepovers.
Not a t that age they get into trouble and are confused and end up playing doctor and Nurse
Yes I would, If I trust the parents ofc
Nope, I don’t have kids
Would you let them if you did tho?
When teens yes
If i know the parents too well, sure
Of course!! Host them too! Kids love it!!
yes, we did
