What sort of wildlife do you get around your home?

Question

Caught a bobcat passing through last night. Such a beauty. We also get raccoons, possums coyotes, bears, even a stag in the past. All sorts.

We live on 30 acres of oak grassland in northern California on a westward-facing slope.
Our house, garage, solar, orchard and gardens only take up a small portion of the property. I think of the rest as a wildlife preserve.

There is a herd of deer and they browse in our garden regularly. We have fencing to protect our orchard, veggies and some of our flowers.

We have LOTS of quail.

Jackrabbits and foxes come around.

We have raccoons, skunks and possums, but I don't see them often. They are mostly nocturnal, but they are around.

I've seen bobcats a few times. One time I was in my yard and one sauntered/swaggered from the side of the house and on past me. It gave me a dismissive look with no fucks given, as if it was a samurai and I was a peon. In fact, it didn't even acknowledge me. LOL.

We have tree squirrels, ground squirrels, voles and mice. No rats.

I've never seen a bear or cougar, but they have huge territories and may pass through.

Lots of different birds.
Turkeys come around during certain times of the season.
Turkey vultures cruise the sky.
We feed hummingbirds.

Oh, and there are bats. We even put two bat houses under the eve of our two story garage.

Praying mantises are fun and I love dragonflies.
Certain garden spiders are even cool.
I love the various bees and butterflies. I don't even mind mud wasps and paper wasps. The only ones I keep away from our yard are yellow jackets. They are little ass holes.

We have tiny frogs that come alive during the rainy season.

I love the alligator and fence lizards/swifts/blue bellies or whatever they are called.

I love the snakes. The most common are gopher snakes, but I've seen racers and California kings in our yard.
I even like the rattlesnakes. The species we have here isn't large and they aren't aggressive. The last thing they want to do is bite anything they don't intend to eat.
When we run across one in our garden or near our house, I catch it with a snake stick that has a jaw. I put them in a box and relocate them to another part of our property where they can continue doing the good work of eating vermin.

Back home i’ve seen bobcats, foxes, deer, black bears, moose, snakes of all kinds, rabbits, bats , badgers, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, coyotes, woodchucks, birds & fowl of all kinds, frogs, toads, salamanders, crawdads, fish of all kinds… i’m kind of cheating. Some of these things i only saw while visiting my family in the upper peninsula.
In California i still haven’t for sure seen a bear, and it kinda ticks me off cuz they advertise it on the flag like everyone gets their own out here! I really wanna see a brown bear. I’ve seen some of the same things here, but i’ll just list the ones that i have only seen here…
Sea lions, river otters, pelicans, and the deer are different. If they’re considered white tails, it’s a different breed for sure. I’ve seen a couple of diamondbacks. We have rattlers in Michigan, but i usually only saw Easterns. I saw my first real roadrunner here, but it had long since lost the coyote.
I feel like i’m forgetting something. I’ll probably sit straight up in the middle of the night and think of it.

Assorted birds including hawks and cranes... skunks... raccoons... squirrels... occasional coyote... rabbits... ground hogs... beavers... muskrat... deer... lots of grumpy old men too.

Bear, deer, possums, geese, I heard of a bobcat sighting a few years ago in a town that was maybe 10 minutes away lol

My favorite animal I’ve seen was the bald eagle that used to fly around my middle school. I always thought it was a regular hawk until I saw it from my class on the top floor of the school right outside the window.

In our suburban neighborhood... There are lots of birds, of all kinds, from tiny hummingbirds to large crows and hawks. Squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and at least one opossum roam the area. There are a few snakes and rats, though we try to control them. Some people have small koi ponds, with koi fish and frogs in them, and tiny skinks (not skunks) are sometimes seen. Occasionally, a coyote will wander into the area. And deer often feast on small trees and vegetable gardens.

We have a few racoons, squirrels, there is a bobcat, made the mistake of feeding it once, now he won't go away, but he's never hurt me, and mostly runs away when I come near so I don't mind. There are also regular cats around where I live.

Birds. Stray dogs. Every now and then a snake of unknown (to me) poisonality (sic!). Ants, termites, mosquito's, carpenter ants. And not to forget my behated neighbours :)
