2.8K opinions shared on Other topic. I live on 30 acres and treat the majority of it as a game preserve.
The animals I see regularly in our yard are deer, jackrabbits, foxes, quail and lots of birds. But I occasionally see bobcats, raccoons and skunks. There are possums but they are nocturnal and I've only seen a few. I hear distant coyotes but rarely see one. Turkeys come around during certain seasons.
Small frogs come out of hibernation and chirp in the rainy season.
There are voles and mice in the garden and lots of lizards. We have snakes, mostly gopher snakes, but also some California kings, racers and rattlesnakes.
We don't see rattlesnakes very often in our garden. When we do, I catch them and relocate them to another part of our property. They aren't a large variety and aren't aggressive. They don't want to bother anybody. They do good work eating vermin.00 Reply

1 yRight now, none. But, there's probably birds about. And, if I go to the front porch, bunnies are bound to show up begging for bread.
Sometimes, at night, deer come up and forage around. During the day, they mostly stay around the bottom of my back yard.
And, every great once in a while, I'll see a couple chipmunks scooting by or raccoons scrounging about.14 Reply- 1 y
Yes! Sometimes, I'll open the front door and there'll be one sitting right there waiting for me to come out.
Last night, I was sitting on the porch around 5:00 a. m. and, just as I was about to get up to come in and go to bed, a bunny ran up onto the porch over to my feet waiting for some bread. So, I gave him a piece and he just sat there eating it and then ran off when he'd had enough. I'll tear a slice in half and they rarely ever eat the entire half so, if there's any left, I'll just throw it to the birds. A couple times, birds came along and stole the bread out from under the bunny so, I'd toss him another half.
I'll try to check the front yard every day for dandelions and, quite often, when I'm roaming the yard, a bunny or two will come out and kinda follow me around until I'm done and ready to hand out the bread. They're still a bit skittish. Like, if they're eating at my feet and I raise my hand to scratch my head, they might think I'm about to hit them and scoot off but, most often, when they see there's no threat, they'll come back and finish eating. But, for the most part, they know I'm not gonna hurt them.
On May 5th, a brand new bunny was born right at the edge of my porch. Apparently momma bunny knew it was a safe place to leave the baby. - 1 y
I know! Sometimes, I'll hold the bread in front of the bunny and, if I don't drop it on the porch in front of him, he'll swat it out of my hand with both paws but, at least half the time, he'll stretch over to the bread and take it from my hand with his mouth and then just sit there in front of me and eat it.

We have tons of songbirds that live in our many arborvitae bushes, and we sometimes see deer and turkeys, and an occasional fox.
No bears, though. We're a bit too suburban for bears.A great horned owl perches on my neighbor's chimney, to the back of my house every summer.
That's pretty cool.
We see other owls, too, and Cooper's hawks, bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, great blue herons.
Ducks and Canada Geese land in our swimming pool and try to nest in our yard.
Rabbits, squirrels, snakes, lizards, salamanders.
And then there's me.
I'm an animal in a number of ways.00 Reply- 843 opinions shared on Other topic.
1 yThe same ones you listed minus wild cats and bears. Add hawks, raccoons, opossum, mink (haven't seen them myself but neighbors have), skunks, coyote (haven't seen those myself either). Not too far away are beaver, otters and some other critters.
There are way too many birds to list. Robins, sparrows, cardinals, woodpeckers, wrens, finch and hummingbirds are all common.
Snake, turtles, toads, crawdads.
There are way too many mice. I've caught four in the last week. I need to borrow the neighbor's cat to help catch mice.

1 yI live in Michigan in a combination of woods and farm fields with a small river running through it some 1700' off the road. I have deer, fox, coyotes, mink, ground hogs, snakes, squirrels, and rabbits. Many different kinds of birds including sand hill cranes, owls, hawks, turkeys, falcons, wood ducks, geese, mallards, robins, cardinals, blue jays, bule birds, finches, various wood peckers, sparrows, red winged black birds, Baltimore orioles, humming birds, and a few others that I don't know what they are and possibly an eagle or two as they were too far away to be sure. I love where I live.
