Here in Wales, we've a growing problem with hippos wandering on the road and blocking traffic in town centres. Out in the sticks, you may occasionally find your way blocked by a sheep.
I know in some places like Canada and Sweden moose/elk are found wandering on roads. But what's the road animal where you live?
What is the most common road animal where you live?
Near where I live, it’s probably deer. Overall in the region, and depending exactly what kind of environment you’re in, it’s most likely raccoons, possums, and skunks. But I’m bordering some deep woods, and I catch coyotes on my backyard camera almost every night, so…. I haven’t seen a single one of those smaller animals, or rabbits, hardly any squirrels (tons of deer) in 4 months of having the camera installed. So between the coyotes and the fisher cats I DO see on the camera, I’m guessing those small animals have mostly been eaten or chased away. Fisher cats are the natural predator of the porcupine, these things are BAD ASS. But I NEVER see them off the camera. Ninja style 🥷 But yeah…not expecting to see any porcupines around these parts, haha
OH, and now that I think of it…. maybe even more so than deer, and a daytime hazard: wild turkeys. You’ll come around a corner hot and they’re just standing in the road, lmao, have to hit the brakes. Dumb as shit, just kind of look at you and turkey-walk off😂
Well, we have hippos here too, sometime blocking the road, but ours have only two legs?
Truthfully I have seen a momma duck trying to get her brood across the street, and all the traffic stopping for her, while a girl got out and tried to help her get her kid across the street. Damned cutest thing I ever saw!!!
@purplepoppy If you had seen 'momma' and her ducklings, you would have gotten out and helped the across the road, I bet!!! I should have helped, but didn't want to scare them any more than they already were.
Well about the only thing that would cause an issue with a car would be the Deer, wandering lost black bear, and the adventurous Alligator. Other than that mostly it's squirrels, raccoons, and armadillo's with a few snakes.

Cats, racoons, possums, and deer are the most common road kill. I guess squirrels too. But deer are the only danger to people - lots of people are killed by hitting deer on the highways.
There's also the dirty hippies in some areas, but it's not politically correct to talk about them. We're supposed to pretend that shooting up and then tweaking out into the streets talking to yourself is all normal and fine.
Although not really a 'road animal', I'd say a variety of birds, either flocks hiding in bushes or trees along the road that get scared by passing traffic, or pigeons that prefer the pedestrian crossings or roads and are so used to traffic they don't even fly away.
As 'road hazards', it would be the two-dimensional cats squashed in my neighbourhood.
The most common road animal in our suburban neighborhood is the squirrel. They are constantly darting across the road, barely avoiding getting squished by cars and trucks.
If you go out a bit into the country, it's deer. It's rare to take a drive in the country without seeing at least one deer.
I was riding my motorcycle home from work here in Sweden and was fortunate enough to miss but see 3 deer crossing a few metres ahead of me but I have seen plenty of foxes and even wild pigs crossing roads. Elk CAN be an issue but that's usually further north and during winter.
Thailand its mainly just dogs , if still alive they are the smart ones , but you also see the giant monitor? ( spelling ) Lizard , which is kinda like a crocodile , but very rare.
Here in Pennsylvania USA, deer are the biggest problem and are responsible for the most death from car accidents, also we have possum and raccoon as the most common small animals hit.
Dogs become too overconfident when walking in a pack of 12-24 until the municipality van comes and captures them one after one for sterilization. So they can't be reproduced uncontrollably because people feed them too much. Monkeys are a total menace. The municipality captures them and sterilizes them before releasing them into the forest. Some Langurs around the monkey area keep them in control. Langurs are big with long canines, but they are docile. Cats remain controlled in number so nobody paid any mind. Cows on streets are mostly owned and their owners get in trouble if someone calls the police.
There used to be snakes, Mongooses, and black bears, but not now. Snakes and Mongooses can be seen occasionally.
