Moving into my first apartment, by myself. What are some must haves and tips or advice about learning to be comfortable by yourself and with yourself?

What you need is a list of what you're looking for. Thrn split into needs and wants.

Needs (for me): 2 bedroom minimum, no carpet, washer and dryer in apartment

Wants: dog friendly, pool, near a subway (sandwich place)

So I don't even look at a place that can't provide basic needs. After I find a list of places that fill the basic needs, I look to see what wants it provides. Then I compare costs.

You won't find the perfect place that has everything you need and want, it's impossible. That's why you focus on finding out what you need.

it was a basement apartment with a window INSIDE the shower, a full-glass front door, and drafty windows with almost no privacy. I had a steady stream of noisy party animal neighbors. and homeless people hung out on the picnic table that was meant to be for us tenants to enjoy. It was by a gas station with frequent crime, and the building next door caught fire more than once. And I miss it almost every day since I left it.

Enjoy it while you have it because you'll miss it when it's gone

I only stayed at apartment during the hurricane when the insurance company was paying for it and I couldn’t stand any of it. I could hear my neighbors fighting. I was bored as heck no backyard no front yard just up on a balcony the most boring experience ever living in an apartment for a couple months And they expensive now they cost $2500 in Miami Florida waste of money and you get nothing out of it in return

I mean they charge for rent $2500 a month and that does not include the utilities that is so expensive per year

But you’re young yet you’ll experience it and then one day you can work up to getting a house to own so much better and you can make a lot of money off of the house selling it

Wow!!! I'll be paying 975 for a 1bd 1br that's fair these days. That's used to be enough for a 3 bd 2bth house monthly.

I remember I was paying for my girlfriend’s apartment back in the early 2000 in Lakeland, Florida while she was living with me in Miami. Her apartment cost around $310 a month that was pretty good but it still adds up and then eventually after a year I told her to make a decision are you gonna keep staying with me or are you going back to your apartment? She made the decision to stay with me so we went up there to Lakeland, Florida and I moved her out back to Miami. In
a U-Haul truck. I put all of her stuff in my garage. It was pretty big.

It was okay but this was 30byears ago and the neighborhood has really gone downhill. I knew a guy who moved in there. He had s first floor apartment. He was a prison guard that worked nights. On night his was was in bed sleeping and somebody broke in through a window. She just stayed quiet an hope the guy didn't kill her. Then she called her husband and they just moved out in the middle of the night and ne er called the landlord. He actually threatened to sue him for braking the lease.

no xD it was litterally the first thing i found after being kicked out by my parents :D it was also a shared flat. moved on from it fairly quickly.
