I don't know what to do?

So I bought a horse for my kids, she’s a great horse. But today I got a message from the original owner. That she would like to buy her back. She explained why she sold her and I honestly felt bad why she had too. The people who we originally bought her from where he friends that she had to sell her too. This horse was rescued by this lady she trained her and nursed her back to health. And did ever ounce of her training. The lady offered me $2000 for her. She had an amazing facility now, and is a farrier. I feel like she should go back to her original owner as her and my horse had a really great bond. She wasn’t pushy about it and said if it’s a no that it is ok.

If I were you I’d give the horse back. I’m trying to put myself in her shoes, and while no I don’t have a horse, I have a dog I’m very close with, lots of history with and have had since she was a pup. Love her to death. If there were ever a reason that I had to let go of her and it was out of my control, if the opportunity ever rose to get her back once my situation was handled, I would be so very grateful for the new owner to hand her over.

Should I take her up on the money she lives out of state and would have to pay to transport her. I just hate to make my kids sad

Since you already paid for the horse then yeah, I’d say taking the money for your investment is fair. As for your kids, try to explain it to them in a way they’ll connect with, like giving away their most favorite thing and wanting it back. You could even let them choose a new horse, since you surprised them with this one (at least that’s what I’m assuming), it may be fun for them to be part of the selection process.

If you think of their situation.. it must have been heartbreaking. And the strength it takes to ask for her back. I would consider it. Then another horse gets a new home with you.

A horse is a horse of course of course & as for this horse it belongs to your kids. As for you I think you should have a heart to heart with your kids & talk to them about what is going on & after you do I think it’s time to do the right thing & return the horse.

Talk to the lady & ask if you & your kids can visit the horse.

Do what you want. You have no obligation to sell the horse back to her if your kids are enjoying it. You could get another horse. So could she. I would consider her offer just as I would consider an offer from a complete stranger.
