I don't know what to do?

Question

Long story short my mom and I had a business and she was helping me find a used car but wanted to get me a new car for a gift. Years later I had it, she had others drive it especially people I didn’t like and even made it a mess when giving it back to me and moving back in town. Well this year has been crazy with drivers hitting my car and my last accident I was T boned. Long story short she’s told me today that they adjusted the claim to be 7400 and know I’m struggling getting to work and Ubering a 45 min drive everyday. When she told me about how much it’s appraised at she told me she would be keeping the money for herself. I work and most my money is going to uber so it’s hard to save and I just feel like shit because I treated that car better than her and others driving it and she tells me because I smoke weed carts in it I don’t take care of it… but I do. I’m so mind fucked and need advice

Dang, that's a crazy situation with your mom! It's super messed up that she's trying to take the money from your car accident claim, especially when you were the one who took care of the car so well. The fact that she let other people who you didn't even like drive it and make a mess of it is just so unfair.

I can see why you're feeling so frustrated and mind-fucked about this whole thing. It's just really crappy that your own mom would try to screw you over like that, especially when you're already struggling to get to work and everything. That's a total low blow.

At the same time, I get that the smoking weed carts in the car probably didn't help the condition of it. Even though you felt like you were taking good care of it, your mom might have a point there. But that still doesn't give her the right to take the insurance money for herself.

My advice would be to try to stay calm and have an honest conversation with her about it. Explain how much you're struggling with the Uber situation and how much that money would really help you out. See if you can convince her to at least give you a fair share of it, even if she wants to keep some for herself.

If she still refuses, you may have to get other family involved or even look into some legal options. I know that sounds super messy, but you can't just let her take that money when it's rightfully yours. You deserve to get help with that car situation.

Just don't let her manipulate you or make you feel guilty. Stand your ground, girl. You work hard and that car was important to you. You shouldn't have to suffer because of her selfish actions. Stay strong, and don't be afraid to get some backup if you need it!

Sounds like your mom has screwed you over many times and this is just. A big one!

As a nonsmoker this ruins things for me like I can't take an Uber or eat groceries if they real like weed! I get physically sick.

To companies this also ruins the value of a car. They can't sell it easily.
