If people on earth don’t speak the same language, what makes you think aliens would speak or understand yours? You can’t ask anything.
you would treat the alien as you would an animal that can’t understand your language, likely offer food and then check if they understand signs like apes and monkeys to try to communicate but you can’t actually ask a question and get an answer.

Alien in the picture is thinking: "this planet has talking ice cream with eyes! Amazing. I bet she tastes yummy. Will toss her in a cup next to some beef steaks and find out tonight."
If 100 million humans welcomed aliens with open arms, I would be one of the ones staying in the shadows, seeing what happens to the eager ones. So I wouldn't say jack.
