I was told once by someone, "You're not gonna like that job, and you'll quit within a few weeks. But... I stayed, I loved it, and I was promoted twice.

Have you ever proved someone wrong?

Of course, especially when it came down to IT stuff. Had an internship with a stubborn manager who thought he knew more than me. One example was that he was going to make my life more difficult by requiring an extra button I had to guide them trough because unfortunately automating that wasn't possible.
I wasn't gonna agree with such an inferior experience so I told him to just add an automatic redirect. He said thats impossible you can't just add it where it would have needed to be added it can only be added at the top of the page or it won't work. I told him it could be done and have done so multiple times. "Sawno, I have been doing this for 20 years why do you always have to be so stubborn and can't just take my word for it". This continued for a bit until I told him to just do it so he can proof me wrong. Of course it worked perfectly and he had to admit that once again I was right. He wasn't very amused by that one haha.
Same guy also corrected me for not reading installation dialogues properly. He said I had no idea what I was doing clicking trough them that fast. I have done more installations than I can count since I have been doing that since I was 3 years old so I never make mistakes and am just a fast selective reader. A while later I was sitting next to him and we were looking for some information online, he opened a page and I instantly said "Ah so its X". He said how the hell do you know that the page was open only for a second. I pointed to exactly where on the page they said it since my eye had instantly landed on it and it was a much more complicated text than an installation screen. Proving I was indeed that fast.
And lastly an accidental one. The server of a customer responsible for automatically installing stuff crashed and needed to be rebuild. I was very good at that so I was allowed to do a majority of that work. There was one piece of software that was extremely difficult to automate. I was accidentally told that last time it took them 3 days. So knowing it was possible I tried everything I could to get it done to proof my skill (I was still a lower rank employee at the time and this was a high rank task I got granted due to merrit). I did it in 1.5 days. I was super proud I managed to do it in half the time. A while later I talked to the architect who had a very good memory so he remembered the original attempt. He asked me if I didn't remember the times I had to install it manually because it was impossible to automate. When he said that I did recall that program had to be installed manually it just didn't happen very often. The 3 days it took them to make it turned out not to be 3 days to make it. They gave up after trying it for 3 days.
I'm sure there are more but these ones came to mind.
Sometimes people say things like that to motivate you. I play heroes of the storm (an online game) and if it ever gets obvious my team isn't trying I say something like "just let it end. We're not winning this." And half the time they get their shit together and we end up winning.
Yes, frequently. Often it happens here, but IRL too, and over a myriad of subjects. I often research answers with scientific journals, or with some questions anthropology websites, or simply news websites. Citing my sourced removes any doubt that I’m just “making it up” or that it’s “just MY opinion”! Well it may be my opinion, but it’s an opinion formed with the benefit of scientific research and peer review!
Then there are the trolls! No matter what one writes, they either contradict the writer, insult the writer, or in a few cases act like they don’t understand that a peer reviewed, published study beats their “that doesn't make sense, my answer makes sense. 🙄 Why you getting so mad?"
I grow weary, but I do still try in my advancing years! LOL 😂 it's so funny, but seriously I've noticed as I get older. I just have less and less patience for trolls. I give them the fax and then I tell them I'm not going to argue with the opinion published fact! Or in one trolls case he was literally arguing against math! 😡🤬 🥵🤯
Yes, yes it REALLY is!
People mostly say those comments based off their own experiences or personal limiting choices. It must be humbling for them to see another do something they cannot or won't even try.

Yes I have lol. The most notable times were when I
yes. I have been the underdog my whole life.

I don't think you have. Can you prove that?
@FunkyMonkee I was always a fat kid and nobody thought that I would be able to complete a marathon. I have finished serveral with a best time of 3:03:09.
How do I know that's you in the picture? For all I know, you could be your sister.
That's him. I can tell from his portrait. It's dated a while back. Early 90s late 80s?
@exitseven looking good there
Yeap, as an example, msc545 but he never admits it, he just removes my comments if he can or blocks me for a while. Lol
Happy for you.
Yes i did. I was told i was too small to get an athletic scholarship for basketball.
Welp, ya know how that went
Others were (and are?) often wrong about me.
But I never felt the need to ''prove'' something :)
Results did, instead. Heh heh.
Congrats girl 😉, I was called stupid my entire life and I became a nurse and make more than all my family
Many Trumpers, but they just can't accept the truth, even when it is documented in photos and videos.
Does the sun appear in the sky every day, even if it is behind the clouds?
Good for you in sticking to your goals.
Not that I know of.
Yes, and have been proven wrong more than once myself. One of the ways we learn and grow.
I think I do all the time but then they try even more harder to prove me wrong 🤦🏼♀️
On a regular basis since the day I popped out of my mama, yes.
🤔 🤔 🤔.. Yeah, but then sometimes people still find things to get on about. Dammit!
Many times I've proven someone wrong. I've been proven wrong myself a few times.
Oh, yes! Hundreds of times!
And, it's, "proven" not, "proved".
yes, a few times... myself
Yes I have and very happy about it.
Many times my whole life. 🙂
Oh I first hear buddy :) what is that :D
Where?
