When I was a kid my friends and I would look for a old tire washed up on the beach. We would set it on fire. Once it got going it really got hot and generated a lot of smoke. Sometimes the cops would come down and make us put it out.

My uncle has a small construction company and burned about thirty of them at night once. He kind of lives in the boondocks next to a huge corn field. The next morning everything was covered in a three inch thick black soot.
It's on my bucket list.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. S'mores have nothing on a burning tire! That's the shit.

I missed that rite of passage!
I have not ever burned a tire
I used to register bikes in the desert and they would burn tires so we would see the smoke and where we would head.
I can tell you this once they are on fire they are almost impossible to get out you need the right chemical you need lots of water chemicals and know how but they're kind of dangerous but cool at the same time at least when I was racing they were
Didn’t have tires to burn. Most likely wouldn’t if there were around. While here in Thailand, I see most people keep these as part of their resources. They are carful with not waste anything.
In terms of burning stuff… I have burned egg shells for fun. Burned leaches because I couldn’t figure out how to kill it after I got it off my leg with a string of my blood.
as a kid, we burned anything we get our hands on to make fire for cooking.
Oh my…. No. Looks dramatic. My friend burned my toaster once… added butter to it and the drippings set off a big old flame. Since then I always keep the extinguisher and a hugs bucket of flour at the door to my kitchen. (Also she’s banned from my kitchen and I don't buy butter anymore bc the smell reminds me of this idiotic fire.)
Huge bucket? Does that work?

@goaded It did for that type of fire. In my case, I was 18, panicked and just threw the first thing I could. Another place I stayed I kept sand bc I was closer to a beach and off carbs, but tbh I've never had to use it again once I banned that friend from the kitchen. No one else was ever ridiculous enough to put butter on the toast THEN put it in the toaster. (Smh)
I haven’t personally burned a tire, but I can imagine it would be quite the scene! I’ve heard of some amusing incidents though. Like the time a friend tried to do a DIY burn-out in a parking lot and ended up just creating a lot of smoke and a very embarrassed look on his face. Or another time when someone thought it’d be cool to set a tire on fire as a prank, only to realize they had no way to put it out and ended up calling the fire department. Burning tires can lead to a lot of trouble and unintended consequences, so it’s probably best left to the professionals—or avoided entirely!
No but, I've burned Styrofoam a few times. In the `70's and early `80's, 2 or 3 liter bottles were made of glass and they'd coat the bulk of the bottle with a very thin layer of Styrofoam which had the label info printed right on it. This helped to keep the glass from breaking during shipping and use.
I love to peel stuff and, if I found a loose piece of the foam on the bottle, I'd start peeling it off from that point all the way to the other end in a huge, long, narrow strand. Once I got done with that, I'd take it out into the back yard, put it into a can of some sort and set it on fire. That stuff took FOREVER to burn!!
No, it smells horrible and the black acrid smoke does your lungs no good. It's like smoking 100 packs of cigarettes.
I’ve burned 4! (Every time I drop the clutch on my Yellow Jeep w/ the Corvette LS engine).
🤣 🤣 😂 🤣 🤣
Thanks sweetie.
I think it is called a necklace in South Africa. Tell me you didn't necklace at school please.
Nope. My parents were environmentalists, so I was raised on the idea that burning tires would be super bad for the environment lol
I was also one of the like... seven kids that DARE actually worked on (I saw a lot of the impacts of drug use on people my parents were around), so I'll let that say whatever it says about my personality
Yes, but I burned all five (spare too) as they were still attached to the car when it went up!
I feel I should explain this.. It was MY car that went up in smoke, and it was an accident as I have no idea how it happened. I just watched it burn and up it went.. the Fire Brigade got there too late!
The only way I burned tires is on the car doing a burn out
Two weeks ago a former neighbor of mine turned up in my driveway. This guy was a cop and got caught cheating on his wife and she kicked him out. I have not seen him in 20 years. So he shows up at my house in a bright red Camaro convertible. He showed me the turbocharger he had added and it had 650 HP. This guy is now 75 years old and is still having his midlife crisis. When he left he laid down a patch all the way down the street.
Happily I never felt the urge to burn a stinking tyre..
