Why are there so many nuclear weapons in the world, and are you prepared in case of a nuclear war?

Why? Because in the event of a nuclear war starting, the first nuke target will be the other side's nukes. One of the SALT treaties limited each side in the Cold War to one anti-missile battery; the Soviets chose to protect Moscow. The US chose to protect an empty patch of land in North Dakota.

As to whether I'm prepared, yes:

The truth is, if there's a nuclear war with America, put me in the center of a blast. Nobody wants to survive that apocalypse.

We may get away from the initial strikes and survive but we won't live through the fallout and climate changes left behind by the aftermath.
