Years ago, I used to get a reoccurring dream where I'd be doing something normal, then I'd hear a really quiet orchestral trill that gets louder and louder and all of a sudden my reflection would jump out of a puddle or a window or sometimes even my shadow.

It would start attacking me. When I was a kid and I had the dream, I'd yell but not hear my voice, become slow as molasses etc.

As I got older, I got better at confronting it until one day I had the dream and was ready for it.

The part that was a little annoying was right when I was about to land a clean shot on it, the shadow just turned into smoke and vanashed.

After that, I never had another nightmare and I never really experienced the emotion of terror. Nothing makes me freeze up.

Complex PTSD comes with more characteristics like Loss of beliefs, Negative self view, difficulty trusting , Personality changes and is a result of repeated abuse over a long frame of time while PTSD is more based on a single event
