I bought books. That’s CRAZY, for me, lmao.

I’ve never been a big reader. I can’t really explain it, but reading doesn’t work the same for me as others, seemingly. I’m plenty literate, but my retention is bad, and my imagination fails to produce a visual in my mind of what’s going on. So it’s just not a preferred medium for me, particularly for storytelling.

The one odd thing I can get into are reference books. I think I’m the dummy the “For Dummies” books are for. I like things broken down and organized simply, that’s how I learn. Charts and graphs and bullet points are the way into my brain. YOU read the chapter, then just show me the outline😝 Don’t make me decipher and decide what’s important, that’s when you’ll lose me, because I’ll try (and fail) to remember EVERYTHING. Give me the TL;DR (ironic coming from me, lmao).

Anyway…. went into a thrift store and a neighboring discount store, and over the past couple weeks I’ve compiled a TON of reference books, on things I mostly don’t have any knowledge in, but want to.

Lots of indoor/outdoor home improvement stuff, landscaping, tiling, lighting, plumbing, fuckin’ Japanese water gardens, lmao. Got a couple books on woodworking basics. Got some stuff about interior decorating and organization. I got Martha Stewart’s “Homekeeping Handbook”😂 And a book on auto maintenance.

I think this is me getting old, lmao. But I just want to know how to do shit. I feel like nobody knows how to do anything for themselves anymore and just hires someone to do it for them. I think I can learn some good skills, and also get an idea of what projects will entail, and IF I can do them myself or not. I don’t know, sometimes I just want to make one of those cool little mud room benches to sit and put your shoes on, with little built-in cubby holes for boots and whatnot, like you see on magazines when you’re waiting in line at the grocery store, but I can’t, lmao…but could?

Barely bought a book in my life, then I buy like two dozen😂

The brain starts working differently when you use it differently. Learn a new language and then all of a sudden you think differently. I learned Japanese and I suddenly got good at math. A reader is different than most of these dummies that just look at a screen all day. Just saying.

I'll put it like this. I could never remember my dreams until I started writing them down in a journal. Now I remember every single dream and it's basically like taking time out of this world and spending some time in that world... I now live there just as much as I exist here. I have relationships there that don't exist here. I live in another dimension as well as this dimension depending on if I'm asleep or not... I live two lives. Point it, I could've just stayed a retard and never started jotting the dreams down and starting dream memory. I could've remained like all the other retards that forget their dreams as soon as they wake up.

I don't now though... I carry on relationships, conversations, and all sorts of things... falling asleep is like waking up in my other world to me. It was always there before... I just never retained anything from the dream state unless it was like ultra scary or some crazy bullshit. Now I retain the boring stuff.

This is the only thing that I can remember that I did that was totally out of character for me:

One day after work my coworkers myself went to a restaurant/bar and I usually never drink alcohol, just have an orange juice at a bar.
So my coworker, Barry Hall knew I did drink a fuzzy navel on occasion. And sometimes a hairy fuzzy navel, which tadd vodka to the orange juice and 🍑 peach snopps. So he whispered to the waiter "give her a very hairy fuzzy navel".
So after I drank most of it I was pretty much not myself. I remember I wore a very short black dress with black pantyhose and black high heel shoes.
All of a sudden I heard the music playing and got up on top of the table and started dancing. 🤭
I'm sure Barry Hall could see right up my dress too🤗

Not recently but a couple of years ago for a couple of weeks I turned into kind of a shut in and introvert. It was completely the opposite of my entire personality.

I just sat on my couch and watched TV I hadn't caught up on and broke my diet and ate horribly. Probably drank far too much wine as well.

Like I said complete opposite of my personality. I'm an outgoing, socially active person.

For whatever reason though, it's like some kind of a bug hit me out of nowhere.

Wow, that’s so random. Maybe like a subconscious decompression or something? It’s tough to be “on” all the time, I’ve felt that way in the past when I was bouncing, so “going to work” was basically “hanging out at a bar”, minus the drinking. But I was still constantly socializing. So I think there were definitely times where I’d just hole up and get lost in Grand Theft Auto or Madden, but my default setting is pretty social.

To answer the question though, I let someone talk me into starting an anime a few months ago and now I'm up to date and watching it weekly lol. Which, I'm not really into them that much so it was a surprise to me.

Thanks, brotha! I still have to actually read them, lmao, but I’m halfway there. Sometime in the next 5-10 years I’ll be buying/building a home, and I just need to get my DIY game up. I see what some of these tradesmen get paid for jobs, and I’m tryna NOT pay that as much as I can. I just need the know-how.

Some stuff I’m sure I’ll find is best left to the pros. But other things…. I’ll watch the job getting done, and it’s not rocket science, it’s just regular dudes who know how to do a thing.

Two of my friends completely renovated my other friend’s backyard workshop at a house he bought and finished it into a hang-out, like a man-cave, haha. Then they just left the front area as a workshop. It looks pisser, and these dudes are just a couple rando guys who just like to fuck around with power tools, lmao. It was a huge project, not saying it was easy or I’d do that much, but it just opened my eyes to what’s possible, if my bozo friends can do it. Plus they already own the tools that I can borrow😂

Some stuff is obviously a big job that requires man-power, but there’s just all kinds of little things I feel like I could get done, and additionally just things I COULD do that I don’t even know are “things” in the first place. At very worst, it’s at least a resource for ideas and something I can point to when I do hire pros.

But thanks, man! Hopefully I end up with a skill/hobby or two out the purchases👍 Just so many helpless people out there, and I’m tired of being one of them, haha
