I agree with saying that everyone, instinctively and constantly, needs to evaluate personality of Others-than-them, as it is the natural way we process to differentiate hostility from safety. But to do that, we mainly use this largely subjective thing that is instinct and intuition, potentially very wrong thing when our intuition is misplaced due to traumas for example.
Other bias would be our tendency to simplify character and personality, to simplify access to "truth", and make our life and Others-than-us more immediately comprehensible. A complicated way to say we are very lazy when it comes to judging lol.
Another bias is our tendency to structure the world we see at all costs, whether or not we are right or wrong about this structure assessment, a good illustration of this is the overused MBTI test. Which has good intents in essence: Attempting to understand ourselves and Others. But then these intents can very much produce simplified and flattering boxes because we are lazy and we love sorting anything in life too much.
I don't claim to know someone's character at all. I can only judge someone based on what I see, like what actions they have towards me and the people close to me, past that, it isn't much of a concern, but that is part of their character.
Let's say they're awesome to me, but then they roofie chicks. To me they're a good guy, but to a lot of women in clubs they're a menace to society.
Most people think that yeah. Ime it's as true as with animals: most have general sense but it can be fucked up by trauma.
Mainly it's something strange or something u recognize from past bad person that sets u off I think, so as long as you're experience has been u mostly know good people & have met a few bad ones too then I think ud be a good judge.
If u unfortunately know mostly bad people then u may not flag bad signs as unusual, & if u known NO bad people then u may not recognize the signs as bad.
We are animals indeed, with added quirks lol
I don't really know. I think it's likely true. But, most of the time, I think we are judging someone's personality rather than their character. The way I see it, personality is how we present ourselves to the world, but character is who we really are inside.
Interesting differentiation between character and personality. While I'm certain there is a huge distinction to draw between who we are (if such thing really is definable) and who we are perceived to be (if such thing is really definable lol), character and personality, as words, look really synonymous, in general language.
@Maybe_Maybe_not I suppose that is true. So, for the purpose of the point I am trying on make, I will define personality as our outward presentation to the world, as what we intend the world to see; and character as our internal, moral fiber.
And I totally agree with the substance here :)

Everyone also thinks they're a good driver, knows where the puzzle piece goes and knows what "workplace casual" dress means.
Usually I am 70 percent of the time - far superior to most people 50 percent
I am not. My close friends act as filters for my blindness here.
