Cats or Dogs as pets?

Which one is the better pet/companion? I prefer cats.

hi, I've lived my life with both, and for me cats are more suited to my character, i love their independence compared to my three german shepherds, you are their world, and with dogs you have to be ready to get up out of bed everyday, go out in the bad weather, and be there for them, it is your responsibility if you take them into your home/family/pack.. im born and bred in the uk sussex countryside and my grandparents were farmers and dogs were a working animal and lived outside, cats were rat killers and lived outside... i love my animals but they are animals... not babies.. not human... as an example... i come across tik tok videos where cats are stealing food out of their owners mouths, attacking them... bad behaviour... i raised my puppies and kittens the same... you're the animal im the boss... i have a tortie 3/4 British shorthair and she's a moody biatch... always hissing at you if you walk too close etc.. well if she disses me ill grab her and throw her out my room... so now this year we lost eywa our ragdoll 14yrs old i have luna, spike, bella, gizmo and bentley her two sons from two years litters and a stray called ted! who i kidnapped a couple of weeks ago because he had such nasty injuries on his back,, he's a ferral but im back to six... crazy cat lady over here for sure!! and to end dogs stink!!! and when you dont have a dog anymore anyones house who has a dog stinks and people stink... they stink and theyre needy too!!! go cats go cats go cats!!

I’m more of a dog person but cats have a nice quiet energy about them. I wouldn’t mind another cat eventually but I’m definitely a dog person.

Cats are lower maintenance. You can go away for the weekend, and as long as you lead enough food, water, and a clean litter box, all is good.
If you have a dog, you have to put him in a kennel or have someone care for it - let it out a few times a day, etc.
