A friend and I engage in a comedy schtick, simply to amuse ourselves, in which we each portray Southern lawyers holding forth in "court" for a variety of silly issues.

My buddy and I are fond of the using the word pronounced as con-TROE-ver-see.
As the schtick is of a nature of litigiousness, the word controversy is bandied about quite often by the both of us.

In normal speech, I usually say CON-trah-ver-see.

Everybody does the CON part but I would put emphasis on TROV next and tail off with ERSY.

TROV would be they key emphasis not troe or trah.
