Can you damage your car if the jump start cables are still in the battery?

remove them as soon as possible...

or it can mess up with the electronics, I don't know what it's called... but it is about the negative/positive charges getting mixed up or something

the more important question here is... why would you even leave them connected? there's no need to do that if the engine is already running

Well my car wouldn't start so we used the brand new jumper cables, to jump start it but I thought my dad said to turn off the car, when it began running for the first time and then we waited a little for it to work, again and it was running and removed both red and blue charges in the battery compartment
