Have you ever personally seen someone die right in front of you, and if yes then what happened exactly?

For me, it was just one time (thankfully) but it was in middle school. These two boys got into a fight, and everyone was gathered around them watching.

They were both rolling on the floor, on top of each other. One boy clearly had gained an advantage over the other boy. And then he just kept punching and punching the other boy in the face, even after the other boy seemed to have become unconscious, drawing a lot of blood from his face, till eventually a teacher came to stop the fight.

At first everyone thought the other boy was just passed out, but upon closer inspection he wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse. An ambulance was called I think but it was already too late. After that as a result a funeral was held for the boy who died, and the other boy who beat him to death was sent straight to juvy, and rightfully so.

That event really fucked me up. I can still picture the boy laying dead on the floor with his face all busted up and covered in blood. I never really got the image out of my head.

I didn't even really know either of these boys, they weren't in my class or anything, but still. The one who beat the other one didn't even seem that physically strong or anything. Just an average boy who was kind of athletic. And the one who died had almost the same physique as the other boy. In theory they should've been equal in strength. Looks like one of them just got lucky over the other.

Regardless if I knew them personally or not though it was extremely fucked up and traumatized me quite a bit to this day.

I was a cop so I saw a bunch of people not survive their heart attacks and car accidents. And some of the suicides, the people were still kind of alive. Like, not conscious, but still having a weak pulse and some response to stimuli. The worst was seeing this girl crushed in a car accident and trying to breath while staring at me in the eyes. She died pretty much instantly when firefighters got her uncrushed. I remember being alone on the side of the road with her body for like an hour in the summer heat, while waiting for the stupid fucking mortuary service to get their for the transport.

Worked in a retirement home 🏡 - the guy basically had convulsions while being prepared to sit down using one of those assist machines. For obvious reasons I won't speak more details however the nurses all came in to assist me and the staffer who had been helping him before his sudden and unexpected convulsions - one moment he's wide awake and conscious, next second he's having like a convulsions and closed eyes 👀 like

Damn. Sorry to hear. That's more or less expected though since cars are literally thousands of pounds, and there's so many bad drivers and crazy drivers.

Besides vehicles, if you live in a really bad area with a lot of crime (like the hood or the projects I think? basically places that usually have a lot of poor people) you'll probably see a lot of people getting shot. I hear that in places like that some people have to sleep under their beds to avoid a stray bullet shot by a gangster or something while they're trying to sleep.

So yeah. Basically vehicles and gun shots are the most common death.

Didn't bother me. Worst part was cleanup. Cops don't do it, you have to or hire someone.

Really huh? Well either you weren't close to the person or you're just someone who isn't bothered by death in general, regardless if it's someone you love or a random person. Some people are just completely unfazed by death even if their parents or wife/husband or even their own child dies. Nothing even necessarily wrong with that, it just is what it is. Different people are different emotionally.

But yeah. Cleanup after death is never fun, of course.

Death itself doesn't bother me. If I love em, it'll hurt but I'll get over it. But otherwise it doesn't stir anything in me at all.

Thanks for explaining, and understandable.

I've heard that people with your personality are better suited for jobs like being a doctor, nurse, police officer, fireman, FBI, SWAT, etc, since those sort of jobs are not for the faint-hearted, and you have to deal with a lot of uncomfortable stuff in those jobs.

In general though it's also worth having people that can stand strong in times of tragedy.

It's also great that something that could potentially traumatize a person for life doesn't faze you, as it means you'll most likely continue to be happy anyway regardless.
