Yesterday, while I was driving to a wedding, I saw an accident. The woman was lying on the ground and her scalp was peeling off. The sight was so bad, I started shaking.
Yes.
Many culture actually sleep next to their loved ones before they bury them.
I slept next to my friend for 4 days in her lounge with her family. Her family are maori and this is their culture.
It is the same with the Samoans. They’ll also have the casket open at the funeral where everyone will go to the person to kiss or touch and just say goodbye. The odd thing with Samoans is that they will take photos of the dead person when they say goodbye and often days before people take photos with the person… imagine opening facebook and they’ve posted after the funeral with this dead person. Lots of respect for them though.
I have seen a few dead people.15 Reply- 11 mo
We have the same traditions except i don't support the idea of taking a photo of a dead person, first a dead person's soul is still alive and went somewhere else and only the physical body had died, plus i better have a memory of this person when they were still alive!
An open casket is for a last goodbye and because the people who loved this person wants to see their beloved one for one last time before being buried! - 11 mo
It is odd but because it’s not common with Europeans but this is the Samoan culture. When you go to a funeral where people have different culture, you respect it. People mourn differently and just in general choose to do things differently 🤷🏼♀️ it’s just something I found odd because it’s not something most cultures do. Its oddd but I actually do like the idea of this, it just is different to the norm.

Open casket funerals are widely practiced in Europe and america as a whole plus some African and Asian countries...
Muslims nope, don't know about the jews, buddhism, hinduism and others... - 11 mo
What do you mean? You have doubts in what i'm saying? If so than make a research or ask a question about it!

11 moSeveral times. Seeing someone die in an accident is very different than witnessing a natural death. @red-lipstick-girl I'm sorry you had to witness that.

Even though i believe that a dead person's soul went somewhere else and only the physical body is dead but i still feel terrible seeing someone dead because nothing is worst than death in our lives!

11 moYeah, I've seen lots of dead people. Held some while they bled out. Watched the life fade from the eye's of others I couldn't get to. Counted the dead bodies. Pulled injured with massive head wounds from vehicles. You get used to it with repetition. You come to accept that life is fragile and can end at any moment. You learn to appreciate the time you have.

AskAs a relationship coach on here, my aim is spreading love and understanding. While my expertise isn't about life and death, I can definitely empathize with the emotional impact of witnessing something so traumatic. It's normal to feel shaken after such an experience. Remember to take care of yourself and process it with someone you trust. Feeling shaken up is a natural response to such events, so be kind to yourself! 🤗

I've walked past or drove past some people who were carrying the body of their loved ones but the face is covered and all. So, I couldn't glance at the face yet it shook me and made me miserable all day. Happened to me few times.

11 moUnfortunately I have been present at the death of many people. And did post mortem care back when I was an orderly in a Catholic hospital. As a medical professional. Seeing a person go from a living breathing human with lives and hopes and aspirations to a lifeless corpse is inevitable.
10 Reply12.8K opinions shared on Other topic. Yes, the first time I saw a dead person was in 9th grade. A classmate had gotten in a fight with his father and ha stole his car and smashed it into a big oak tree and died instantly. I guess the parents insisted on a open casket. The mortician tried to make it look normal but it really was horrific.
This kid used to pick on me so I was not too broken up that he was dead.

11 moYes, a couple of times.
Just recently miss badass (a kid, or a young teen I worked with) finally got some peace. I happened to have a errand at the institution the same day, so I decided to stay and sing her out with the rest of the staff.
10 ReplyWe were on a road trip when I was 7 or so I think and this obnoxious guy in a convertible was zooming by everyone, passing in no passing zones around blind corners and a few miles up the road after he passed us, he hit a minivan head on. The dead mom was in the passenger seat dangling out of the window when we drove by. It was pretty gruesome at that age.

11 momany many times, I worked on an ambulance, fire dept, and police dept. been to hundreds of accidents, suicides, assaults, murders, and autopsy even a few of natural causes. I used to see at least one dead body a week for thirteen years before slowing down to just fire rescue and then it was once every several months. A few I'll never forget and always carry with me, as is with every responder. I had 41 years in the field before I retired, yes I saw a lot.

11 moYes. A guy was hit by a truck and we saw his body laying on the ground. It was a horrible sight to see.
I've also seen several relatives dead in the casket.12 Reply- 11 mo
In accidents, i believe that people should act fast miss sims and cover the dead body out of respect because the worst thing is seeing someone dead, at least for me that's how i feel!

Yes thats so true.
I witnessed a terrible accident involving a young child. It's something I will never be able to forget. I saw the accident unfold, from the collision between two cars to the final crash.

My fiance has seen that seven or eight times. Namely someone who had just died in an accident lying on the road.

Anonymous(45 Plus)11 moMy father right after the doctors failed to revive him. It's pretty shocking how quickly a human body gets cold after you expire. That's what I remember the most. The dead look in his eyes and how cold he was.
10 ReplyYup. Not sure if it was a traffic accident or suicide but it was pretty clear that what was scattered on the road needed a priest instead of a doctor.
