Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision.
I saw this fight last night; it was really saddening to watch for me and pretty sure for everyone else who saw it because some people all expected a throwback of 1980s Mike Tyson to come out for Paul in the match, but he can never be that beast he used to be in his youth from 40 years ago. Mike showed his age in this match and landed a good shot on Jake, but the taunting for me from Paul made me sick because if it was a younger Tyson, he murdered Paul without breaking a sweat.
Now Paul could brag and say he beat Mike Tyson, but he beat an older version of him and a geriatric with health issues, who suffered an ulcer flare-up earlier this month that the fight had to be postponed to later this month. This is no speciality or feat in what he did; regardless, he showed respect to Tyson afterwards and showed him grace. They both made money out of this, with Jake making $40 million and Mike making $20 million, which I feel Tyson should’ve gotten the most of since he was the bigger name and drew the crowd to pack that stadium last night, but it was really sad and shameful to watch. Tyson really looked like a shell of what he used to be. He’s getting older now.
Pretty much, this will be Mike Tyson’s very last time in the ring and go home with his family along with $20 million. At 58, he sold out a whole cowboy-packed stadium last night. Don’t get me wrong, there were other good fights on the card, especially the women’s match that should also get mentioned. It was a great fight, but mostly everyone came and paid money to see Tyson.
Mike had a knee brace on it coming into it but all props and hats off to him 🎩 to stay in those 8 rounds still standing and went out on his shield for a big payday out.
