@sage2021 Im not an optimist, but I do try, when I can to help someone needing help. Have stopped on 405 and took a guy to a gas station for a gas can (he offered me $$, and I told him to 'play it forward)

Helped a woman being battered in a car at a supermarket, and my wife told me "never again, do you want to get shot"

I'm a lot like you in that way.
If I see someone needs help and I can provide it, without hesitation or thinking about it first, I just jump in and help!
This has happened to me in my life man, many times and I feel that God puts me in some of those situations when He sees people needing help. He knows that I am a helper and I feel that's why he puts me in certain situations and I have actually helped save some people's lives.
I hope I am not coming off as braggadocios because that's not my intention.

I think it was his way of teaching his son to figure out how to do something on his own. Not that no one will help. If that were true the father would have kept on walking to the end, but no he stopped every few seconds to look back.

I raise my 2 kids to be self sufficient. That’s my duty as a mom… they must be able to do the basic. Take care of themselves first. They work hard and smart to be the next generation of quality citizens for our ever changing society. They must not be a burden to others if they can but be of a help but never to pull others down.
once they are self sufficient m, they must help others. However… never enable those who are laze and entitle with negative attitudes.
Me hubby and I help each other emotionally… we listen and share our deepest love, fear, goals… etc. we help each other to be better… we all want that special person to lean on, relay on… but we also know… if one day one must leave, we are able to care for ourselves…. we have helped each other get to a much better place financially… health and aging is inevitable… but one must keep positive and make the best of each day.
