What's causing fireworks and sparklers incidents lately?

Perhaps you might not like what I'm about to say but I have experience with some pyrotechnic devices (only the small ones though) and sparklers since I was 10. Nothing ever happened. Why?

I've never picked up a used pyrotechnic device from the streets, used gloves when handling a sparkler, there was always a bucket of water and hose in handy, never returned to a lit firework, etc. I've basically followed all intructions. I stay away from the bigger ones. My uncle is the only one that handles those from a distance.

So why are there so many incidents? How hard is it to follow instructions and use common sense?

Because most people DO NOT follow rules of any kind when dealing with EXPLOSIVES and FIRE, which is what fireworks are.

I grew up like you. Daddy set off the fireworks until we were older: 10-11. Then there were warnings about how to handle them. I had parents who paid attention to us. And I've had a few stings from sparklers, and a firecracker going off a little too close to me.

But, I've been handling them for 58 years. A bit longer than you. So minor issues, sure. Having bucket of water, turned on water hose nearby is safety conscious.

And next morning, PICK UP ALL THE FIREWORKS TRASH!!! So few are safe or clean. Good on you. Pass it on to someone else!

If you go to Google search, there are a bunch of fireworks incidents. A 10 year-old (the same age I was when it was my first time with a small firework) in Orange County lost his fingers on his left hand and burns after lighting an illegal firework he found on the streets. It's obvious no one ever taught that kid the common sense of never ever picking up any device (much less taking it home to light it) from the streets.

You don't make sense. I never even mentioned race into the post. What does race have to do with this post? Plus I don't think it's demanding at all to say others need to follow instructions when handling pyrotechnic devices and sparklers. How was that demanding? That's logical and a safety concern. By handling them with care, you're keeping everyone safe.
