Boys, unlike Yours Truly, who avoided any high school clique, were you into that sort of cliquish behaviour?

In high school, from 1970 through June of 1972 when I graduated, I got along well with the hippies, surfers, rockers, and gear heads (hot rods and muscle cars). I was lead guitarist and vocals in garage bands. My long hair and the way I dressed reflected that.

I was pretty popular and had a group of close friends. I guess you might call them a clique, but we weren't part of a particular subculture. I got along well with lots of people.

You were a rocker boy, so you COULD navigate the cliques.

I avoided all HS cliques

I'm was a misanthrope, even back then. So, I avoided people & cliques like the plague. I didn't want anything to do with the majority of people I went to school with.

Nor did I because it was in a working-class neighbourhood and there were few girls worth my notice. They were a bunch of fours, fives and sixes, perhaps four eights or nines. Plus most had dull-normal-to normal intelligence to my 160+ IQ , though again, there were a few brainy nerds who looked the part. Being both astonishingly handsome and Mensa-level bright meant I had almost no true peers.
