If you're the type to ghost people what would be your main reason for doing so?

If you don't ghost people then good on you. this question is for those who have done it or do it on a semi-regular basis.

So what would be the most common reason you're like 'welp im not gonna talk to this person ever again' without telling them that?

My thing is basically just tell them you aren't interested in talking anymore. after that point if they take it badly and react badly thats when you can ghost them. you gave them fair warning.

I was no longer interested in talking to them and didn't want to upset or hurt them by telling them that outright

Something they said was upsetting or made me uncomfortable and felt uncomfortable informing them of that

they were showing romantic interest and i wasn't as into them and didn't want to hurt them by telling them

I was unsure how they'd react if i told them i don't want to talk anymore so i just did so without informing them and hope they get the hint

Ghosting people is just the new normal, everyone does it so they ought to be used to it by now anyways

1) Their questions are making me feel uncomfortable that they are again and again asking me such questions but I'm a private person. I clarified them that still they don't listen. And I feel maybe it's not the enough reason to stop them in directly as they will say "what bad I asked, I was simply asking you"

2) They are continuously flirting with me, even after I showed no interest in them and also clarifying them that I have boyfriend also sometimes after telling them in clear words that I don't like it. Still they keep doing it.

3) I'm depressed and uncomfortable to face the people or their questions or I feel like if I'll reply then the upcoming response could make me into the situation what I don't wanna face.

4) someone is being too clingy and I just don't have any proper reply to say them to stop being like that because there seems nothing wrong in it. They never abused me never disrespected me.

5) if I get to hear or see their double face with me behind my back by chance. But they don't know that I know about it. They have not directly been bad to me ever so I don't have reason to insult them directly, but because now I know their true other side I'm no more interested to talk but unnecessary I don't wanna create the scene.

And so on.

Also I lack social skills so I actually don't know how and when to interact with people or what to talk. So sometimes just because of that also it happens as I'm socially awkward.

Sometimes it's just the hesitation or awkwardness. And sometimes just the vibes doesn't match so interaction starts taking long pause then it fades without giving proper reason.

well the first two it sounds like you give them fair warning before doing so thats fine. my only beef is when it suddenly happens with no warning given whatsoever. that stuff is hurtful and i would say more hurtful then them simply saying 'i don't wish to talk any longer' because at least then i know for sure. the former is basically like 'wait so is it over though?' with no clear answer.

Sometimes for some people "I don't wish to talk any longer" feels like attack or rejection so that also could hurt them. Or something just the person who is ghosting itself is so weak to not handle the argument or follow up questions or the awkwardness that could come after thet told them such things. They don't want to face that. So we can't know what could be best for other. Everyone differs. Maybe for some it is better to left it unsaid then telling them I don't want to talk to you because you are this clingly etc.

At least then they could have excuse or hope that "oh maybe she got busy in their lives" maybe they forgot, maybe something happened. At least there is no negative comments about them from that person that can make them feel as if they are rejecting them or they are no good.

but don't you also see how ghosting them might hurt them even more and for much longer? telling them outright can hurt that is true but its more like a 'rip the bandaid' off now kind of thing where it won't linger on as much. cause you gave them a clear concise message. without telling them that then they really have no clue as to the myriad of possibilities it could be you aren't talking to each other. its psychological torture in some ways.

Actually I don't know what could be better words to say that to them. I'm no good at it. If I'll say, my words would be more direct and real reason. No suger coated or diplomatic. So it feels like rough or attack like sharp knives so I avoid.

i can assure you as someone on the receiving end of this that they are thinking of every reason not just the not so bad ones but even the 'so does it mean they hate me?' and there's no clear answer so it can cause them to dwell on it.

yeah and as i also stated before if you tell them you aren't interested in talking and then they get pissy about it or won't leave you alone thats when you ghost them. just give them a fair warning 'don't go over this line' and if they are good and respectful they'll listen. if not you cut them off.

I usually stop talking because they show romantic interest or flirting after I already told them I am not interested. I don't like to hurt people so I figure it is just best we move apart. Or if they are weird or annoying I tend to just ignore them. Tho more often I will just completely block or remove them then just ghosting them since I'm not interested in talking. Also when a guy keeps flirting with me after I told them I liked them but they are not looking for a girlfriend or anything serious then I tend to just block them with no warning lol.

most of those you do kinda give a warning though. i more mean when it just happens completely out of the blue. most especially if you've been talking awhile and to one person it seems to be going great but the other just disappears.

I can’t really think of a specific examples I’ve ghosted someone but I know I have before.
I think ghosting people are valid when they’re toxic. There are certain people who aren’t mature enough to even understand an explanation on why they’re being dropped. So why should I waste my breath.

Not sure if you're specifically referring to romantic relationships, friends, acquaintances, family, internet strangers; or you mean just in general...but in general whenever I ghost someone it's just simply I don't feel like talking to that person. Depending on the person it could just be in that moment (maybe I'm busy with something or annoyed at them), or I just wanna cut ties with them entirely.

When I wanna cut ties with someone entirely, the thing is some people don't take rejection very well at all. They could get angry and defensive or just start guilt tripping me or something. So sometimes it's just best to skip that part. If it's someone I was especially close to then sure I'll give a reason, but if it was someone I wasn't even close to anyway I don't even bother.

In general you can cut ties with anyone you want and if they ask you don't even have to give them a reason or explain yourself at all. They are not entitled to an explanation. It's your life. Though if it's someone you were especially close to it'd be better to give at least a short explanation.

On this app it's because they get weird or really sexual in my DM's so I just stop responding in hopes they get the message that I'm not interested in it. If they stop and just send normal messages then I'll talk again.

Off this app, I do it but it's not on purpose. I have an issue with how my memory works and sometimes tend to forget people exist and end up ghosting them accidentally. It doesn't mean I don't want to talk to them though.

honestly ghosting is just a way for immature adults and teens to avoid there problems instead of going up to the person and trying to work through something or telling them they dont wanna be freinds your just stopping all communication this is a big red flag if you ask me because it shows you only care for your feelings and therefore are not a good partner anyways because if we ever had an argument or dissagreement you would not care to hear my side

They have a right to their reasons, you have a right for an explanation if they are willing to give.

I occasionally "ghost" people--usually groups and rarely individuals. I am an introvert. I can be talked into attending social gatherings, but I sometimes decide that going to the event really isn't worth my time. It isn't just a callous decision, I am socially anxious and it gets the better of me from time to time. Now that I am older I am usually smart enough to avoid becoming committed to social gatherings in the first place. Saying "no" isn't as difficult anymore.
