Have you ever tried to do something incredibly nice for someone, but the person rejected it? Do you know why?

There is an unhoused/homeless woman who basically lives at my post office. I am there so often dropping off packages for my business, so I always see her. One day, I'd accidently ordered the wrong case of teas I like, and so I thought I'll give them to her. I knew she had a shopping cart with her stuff, so would be able to carry the case otherwise I would have just given a few bottles. On my next drop off, I came with the case, found her sitting baking in the hot sun, showed her the case of drinks still wrapped in the plastic and asked if she'd like them. She flat out said, no. It wasn't a pride thing either, because I'd seen her take food from others before, but nope. I give away food rather than money to the homeless when I see them, and in all the years I've done this, never actually been rejected, but there is a first time for everything.
