I'm done with life. I can't find new friends or love. Life just hit me with a brick wall. Being 31 just makes me feel more lost.

You gotta get out of that mode of thinking. I was feeling like that a few weeks ago but I snapped out of it because life is going to pass you by and you will be wondering where all the time went when you are in the best years of your life. You won't get this time back. You're still young and have a lot to offer. Go out and find friends or love. It's not easy but if you really want to stop feeling this way then you have to pull yourself together and just start living life.

I went from not going out at all to going to the movies with my bestie, going out with a coworker for her birthday, going on a date to a barcade something I never thought I would do and I had a lot of fun. And this is all in a span of a few weeks.

In May, I'm going on a trip with the bestie to New Orleans and I'm going to live it up. If you don't have any friends then try and make some on social apps. You seem like a decent and interesting person who can make friends if you truly wanted to. So get out there and just do it. Live! Now! While you still can! ❤️ 💙 💜

I haven't had any friends since high school. I try making friends on social media, but it never works out. My mother is very controlling so basic she kind of stop me from having my own life. Put negative things in my head.

I'm sorry. I know how that is. I had to leave from my mother's home and get a roommate. I don't know your living or work situation but if I were you I would try to find a roommate if possible so you won't be under your mother's thumb.

The only thing I can tell you is to try to have a talk with your mother about respecting your boundaries because you are 31 years old and have a right to do whatever you want at that age especially if you work and help out.

Some odd reasons she doesn't do that with my siblings, but won't let me go out, but lets my niece do whatever she wants.

Yeah then that's why she treat you like that. It's not right especially at your age but she probably feel overprotective of you because she see you as her baby.

I wouldn't say overprotective more like control. I had friends she run them away. Then get told my siblings are better than me.

Believe me I understand. My mom was kind of controlling as well and I had to find a roommate to not be under her control anymore. I know you said it's expensive and I know it is but if you can, try to see if you can move out as soon as you can afford it and find a roommate to help with rent. But I guess for now, you gotta try to live your life no matter how she feel about it until you can get out of there.
