How do you feel about middle names?

There's a weird custom here where a lot of people use their middle names in everyday life. There's even cases of adults not even realising they're using the middle name and they actually have a first name until they see their birth certificate.

Some say its because many families have a tradition of naming you after a family member and it saves confusion but you'll see it when that's not the case too. No one really knows why we do it

I've heard of Paul McCartney, his middle name is actually Paul. That's cool.

I like their origins. Way back in the day when fairies were a threat, if they knew your name they could control you to their bidding and potentially take your place. So people invented the concept of a second, secret name known only to you and your immediate family. That way if a fairy found out your first and last name, you wouldn’t be controlled by them. Also, when you meet those folks that have like 7 names, that’s also the reason why. I think it’s very amusing.

There is nother person that lives 2 miles away from me. Same first and last name different middle name. I've had local police try to arrest me for open warrants. My middle initial is J and his is S. Iv'e got federal government issued ID's that's the only reason I wasn't taken in.

Most people have them , I don’t think it matters if you have one or not tho , cuz the only time it’s used is when getting threatened by parents 🤣
