Calligraphers, especially in Hebrew, Arabic & Asian writing systems always FASCINATED me with their METICULOUS FLAWLESS BEAUTIFUL works of art - especially Arabic calligraphy.

AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON INK COLORS!! Black should be banned just cuz it's so fucking boring!! There's a rainbow 🌈 to choose from!!

Fun fact: We had to ban glitter gel pens in the late aughts for essays at my school due to its ability to create near perfect indentation on the next piece of paper so the kids could use it with another teacher simply by tracing or writing it at home and tracing it when in class. The tip never fell out of the groove and you REALLY had to look to spot it! Girls got away with it for a while until the boys fucked it up.

I have a ballpoint pen that is probably older than I am. I'm not actually sure if it's worth anything, but the metal makes it better to handle, and it writes well. Of course, I have to refill the ink from time to time. At home, I use it for most things.

When I am not at home, I use a variety of cheaper, more modern ballpoint pens, mostly with a touchpad on the backside. Nearly all of them are from our newspaper and are used as promotional gifts. So it works out well if I have to give them away, because I use them most of the time for work.
I have multiple boxes if them, so of course they get used. They are good, not cheapest of cheap. Right in the middle of good quality but also not a disaster if you loose them.😅

This takes me back to my late teens when I was getting set to head to University and I started using ink from always having real pencils for school. I found this really smooth not too thick rollerball pen that I was given as a gift that was absolutely delightful to write with and I was heartbroken when it ran out. I've always liked writing with smooth ink instead of the rough pencils and rather industrial ball points.

A smooth ink flow to the paper is what I really miss. There are some fibre tip pens that I've used that aren't too shabby too

Preferably a fountain pen, but ALWAYS a certain colour of ink - not blue or black.

I had someone try to forge my signature on a contract a while ago and asked for a colour picture of the document. I could see instantly that it was a forgery because it was blue ink. My lawyer has confirmed there's no reason a contract has to be signed in any particular colour legally. For me, the colour I use is an integral part of the signature.
