The English language is known for having some of the hardest words to spell, many looking nothing like how they are pronounced.

I'm a good speller, lousy typist. As a child, I won several spelling bees.

I don't use this word often, but I always have a problem with the word "millennia" ... how many L's and N's does it have?

At the grocery store, a friendly nonbinary individual was proudly displaying their breasts. I said to my friend, "She has some nice melons there!" Upon hearing this, the nonbinary person corrected me, gently reminding me, "I'm not a 'she,' but a 'they/them/there.'" I said, "They're has some nice melons their!"

The words on that list don't seem too difficult. I'd assume most people could spell them.

The ones I trip up on are
Business, I occasionally miss the "i" it just doesn't need it.
Psychologist/physiologist. I always have to think with these two.
Pencil. We spell it pensil and it's so easy to forget the English use a c.
Mackerel. My fingers insist it's Mackeral, no real reason.

Implemented. Not sure why but it always miss the middle ME.

As for verbal issues, I struggle to say specific. I have to slow down and sound it out. Again, not sure why.

haha yeah "millennia" annoys me too, the autocorrect often turns red for this one, so the machine is fixing it for me. I recall having issues with "anxiolytic", especially the french version "anxiolytiques" due to that pesky Y. Otherwise, I'm often hesitating due to language shifts from FR to EN

BECAUSE

I was punished in primary school for the same mistake multiple times for spelling this word. It was so severe I was belted with a tawse for my persistent misdemeanour. The Headmistress had me stand in front of the class blackboard (that's what it was called there and then) and belted me twice for being a dumbass.

You can bet I don't fk that word up again, because peer humiliation as a 9/10 year old is worse than anything.

I haven't noticed a specific word or word group... I switch between two or three languages, so maybe words that are similarly spelled could be a potential spelling trap.

I can never spell "necessary" I'm always like is is s then c or c then s is it one c? Two s? Or two c one s?
