What phrase instantly infuriates you?

For me, it's "it is what it is."

Just for the simple fact that people have overused this phrase. Like I get it, shit happens but maybe say that instead of that sometimes.

Starting a sentence with, "so" or, "I mean". I mean, in places where it's not at all needed.
"What's your dog's name?"
"So my dog's name is, Fred." Or, "I mean, my dog's name is, Fred."

The phrase, "To quoin a phrase" but spelling it, "coin". In the old days of printing, before computers did all the layouts, the stories had to be set by hand, letter by letter. Once they were set into a tray, they had to be locked into place with these expanding metal bars called quoins. To lock them in place, each one had to be tightened with a kind of metal T-shaped "wrench" called a quoin key.

Stating the name of someone or something and immediately following it with either he, she, they or it. "My dog, she likes to take walks." You've already mentioned that you're talking about your dog! You don't need to follow that with her pronoun. We already know you're talking about your dog. "My dog likes to take walks." will suffice.

"Suffice it to say..." Suffice is another word for, "enough". You don't follow, "enough" with, "it". "Enough it to say..."? 'Suffice to say..." will suffice.

You go to a doctors office & after you check in you wait in waiting room. Twenty minutes later someone calls your name & that person walks you to another waiting room in the back & they say the following.

“The doctor will be with you shortly.”

The problem is that it's STAGGERING how few people ACTUALLY understand this. I'm constantly surprised by how many people can't grasp the concept that decisions have consequences, and that stupid decisions usually bring very negative consequences.

If this was something most people actually understood - and understood that this didn't just apply to everyone else, but to themselves as well - then we'd hear this said a whole lot less.

You are correct, but it goes both ways. The men who hang around in her "Friend Zone" are idiots too. They need to learn to cut her off entirely and move on. "Being friends" in that situation just means that you're going to be used for validation and emotional support at the very least, and in most cases, you're going to be used for free labor, free entertainment, and even to loan her money the next time she has "an emergency."

Women shouldn't do this to men, but men should also not stick around and take it either. Both are at fault. One is just more morally reprehensible.
