I'm not a powerlifter, or anything, but I'm very tall and naturally have a strong build.
I basically look like a football player.

I'm kind of washed up. Only about half as strong as I used to be but still stronger than most people. I'm 5 ft 7 and 240. When I was your age, I could grab a cherry picker chain attached to a 351 Ford engine and lift it out of the back of a pickup truck and set it on the ground. That's about 600 lbs. I was stronger than most guys a foot taller and 100 lb heavier than me.

When age 33 I was cut up like a diamond and twice as hard. Then a wreck sidelined me for nearly four months. I regained about 85% what with the permanent disabilities I sustained.

  Yeah. I was thinking. I asked the doctor when I could return to work, and he laughed rudely and told me it would be a year before I even thought about going back to work.
  I told him I'd be back in 4 months. He laughed, scoffing. This is how strong I was. I wrecked just past midnight on one of my sisters' birthday on February 10th. I went back to work framing houses on D-Day. Today is 29 years ago.

  It occurred to me as I was reminiscing about going back to work with all the guys. I think all of them are dead now. 🥲 I came in just under 4 months. It was an easy day to remember being D-Day. Are you familiar with D-Day?
