What do you think of the visitor I got this morning?

I was at the computer and I saw something dark out of the corner of my eye it was a bunch of feathers floating down to the ground. But I didn't immediately understand what I was seeing. I closed one of the windows cause I thought something weird was coming in through the air. Only then did I see the bird :) It was sitting up between the windows and the ceiling. It seemed like it really liked this spot. It was very calm just looking around, sometimes it hopped around from one side to the other.

It tried to fly around the apartment a bit too but it didn't find a place it really wanted to land so it had to come back to the windows. I thought it was gonna fly out but it always landed up top again. I opened the window back up I tried to show it the way but it didn't want to leave.

It stayed calm even when I got really close that's how I got that first picture. At first I wanted to give it space because I didn't want to scare it but it didn't seem scared of me at all which was nice :). But there was a moth that also came in through the window and it flew right at the bird. I thought it was gonna eat the moth but it seemed more scared of it. I think it's still a very young bird trying to explore the world :)

It stayed for 45 minutes. Then it suddenly darted directly from the perch above the window out and was gone.

I hope it comes to visit me again, next time I'll try and make my appartment more birdie accessible :)

Your guess is probably correct that it's a young bird that's just exploring the world. Although the fact that it wasn't afraid of you or eating the moth, gives me fears that it might have rabies. If you look up the symptoms of rabies, you'll know exactly why I'm thinking that.

Although the more positive view that it's just a young one finding alternative niche ways to survive does come to mind. Reminds me of this seagull mini documentary I watched on youtube where this one lone seagull has learned how to hunt and kill pigeons. It's gained him some female seagull's attention that he shares some of the meat with as well and she keeps coming back for the meals... makes me imagine what the first humanoids manipulating fire, tools, language, or an advanced brain had in their favor that increased their ability to survive as well as their sexual opportunities (or at least what it must've been like).

Anyways, this bird might come back. Scoped your pad out and might view it as a great place to rest, and this could be multiplied with something like easy food. Would you really want to though? I mean it was cute... but eventually you'll want to close that window, bird seed shells or bird shit all over the place might make you reconsider just how cute it is. Not to mention possible hitchhikers like chewing lice of the order of Mallophaga. It might not be an idea you really don't want to court. Best to let nature remain in nature and there is no real need to domesticate this animal... we already have chickens that are delicious.

Awww, what a cute little kid! It's so fun that it stopped by to honor you with a visit. Wouldn't it be great if it came to visit some more and made friends?

Looks like young female sparrow that can barely fly they can just glide. Sometimes they fall from nests and can't go back, than walk on ground over days while their parents bring them food. Unfortunately lot of die due cats and martens but sometimes their feathers grow ready and they can fly. Sparrows fly always in small and loud gangs around. They don't eat any fruits and prefer insects that's why they don't bother me like parasitic starlings do who eat my sweet cherries.

She could fly. She was still a bit new to it but she could fly. And yes there were more outside the window. I think she'll be fine she seemed pretty capable.

I absolutely love sparrows! We have a long history. A sparrow family lives in our chimney and sometimes one of them knocks on the window of my room and then flies away and again come back and knock and fly away just to play around. They're absolutely cute and playful.

Try keeping puffed rice by the window next time, they love that.

You might want to put some raptor silhouette stickers on your windows to prevent bird strikes, in case the birds don't recognize the closed window due to the mirror effect.

I already have something on the window and there's a curtain and the frames of the window I think they can see it I haven't had one crash yet but I migt put up some more things :)
