Moodiness is the same.
Women seem moodier because they have always been permitted to express the full range of human emotions without negative consequences.
Men still do not have that freedom. There are always negative consequences for expressing ourselves. So we suck it up. If we finally crack, it becomes a full on psychotic episode from repressing all those feelings for so long. The flood gates open and our emotions wash away our entire life and livelihood.

Being a male I can only go off my relationships with males and females. Obviously there are exceptions but with males I generally know what to expect from them. With females with or without being on their periods, some can be moody and argumentative, and I need to find out which frame of mind they are in before interacting with them.

I think this nails it. You have to test a woman to find out which mode she's in before engaging. Pick the wrong time, when she is looking for an argument, and it almost guarantees you're going to get into one.
