Technically you can apply logic to the illogical, but it usually requires deconstructing it first to figure out what is logically consistent about it and what isn't... then only applying the logic where there is already a consistent framework for it.

Ghosts can't walk through walls. They simply repeat the same actions they performed in life. If a ghost goes through a wall, it means there used to be a door there. The only reason they'd "fall through floors" is if there used to be a hole in the floor before that since got boarded up.

Obviously ghosts aren't real, but what I just gave you is the "official answer".
