Whirlpool vs Tidal Wave. Which one do you think give you higher chances of escape?

Tidal waves, if you know how to respond to being caught in one, will actually bring you back to the surface through very little effort on your part. If you can hold your breath, the greatest risk is being slammed against the sea floor or other objects in the water. By the time they’re big enough to be inherently dangerous, they’re easy to avoid if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Whirlpools can be trickier, if there’s a downdraft. But they’re generally not dangerous otherwise unless you’re getting into maelstrom level events. Similarly to large tidal waves, not exhausting yourself by fighting the current is usually the key to survival. But if there is a vortex, it can pull you down and keep you there much longer than most people can hold their breath.
If i had to face one or the other, i’d choose the big wave. You don’t really know what you’re in for until it’s likely too late with a maelstrom.

I looked up Whirlpool, apparently you stay calm and just swim out once you are near the bottom since it is weaker of a current (do your own research just in case it is wrong) I can’t swim to begin with so I don't know if I’d genuinely survive.

Tidal Wave looks scary coming at you, though I don't know if that is better or worse.
Vortex sucking you into the body of water forcefully sounds worse, though if you can just “swim out” with the weaker current than not so sure… Depends on the height on the Tidal Wave too ig.

If you look at any whirlpool around the world there's usually a tourist boat near it or people messing around in kayaks.

Tsunamis will often catch you out with little warning and unless there's high ground in running distance your screwed

the physics of it, depends on the circumstances... so, it depends...

however, generally speaking... a whirlpool is going to pull you in, and that's much more difficult to escape once you're caught because it will only get stronger, and exponentially too

with a wave though... there's more chances that the push will be less and less over time

A whirlpool will draw you under the surface. Depending upon the distance travelled, you may be able to get away from it and get to the surface rather quickly.

A tidal wave is much more destructive.

probably the wave is more survival since you usually get some warning. We call it a tsunami, not a "tidal wave"

Whirlpool. - think of it as a giant flushing toilet. You can see the swirling of the water, so avoid it and stay away from it or just hug the outside edge

Tidal wave (aka tsunami). A significant whirlpool will suck you under and there's no chance of escaping it. With a tsunami, at least you have a shot at keeping your head above water.
