I wish people would let me show my loving side more. I always wanted to get married and have a family but none of that went according to plan and I've pretty much given up and just feel completely beaten down. Nobody will give me a chance, and I do have redeeming qualities. The problem is when I try to strike up a conversation or something they never seem interested and when I have asked people out it's always gone poorly. I'm not ugly but I think I'm what you could refer to as "aggressively average." Like often times they'll smile and say thank you like they're glad for being hit on but it's still always a no. People don't care you stand your ground in a fight they care you look like you will. They don't care you have a lot of love to give, they care your finances suck. They don't care you've donated hundreds to charity, they want to know what kinds of gifts they can expect. They don't want to know you they want to size you up at a glance pass judgement and be done with you. They only want to know you if you check all the boxes they want. Fall short of 1? Welp that's it for you.

Ever since those stupid dating apps came out everyone only looks skin deep.

And it's not just on the apps it's everywhere now. Modern dating has standards that are stupid high and just unreasonable right now. Women expect men to still pay for everything even though we're in an economy where a lot of people can barely afford rent. In my town if I lived in non-income-based housing a studio apartment here would cost me over halve my paycheck a month by over 100 bucks.

How are you supposed to date in this economy and even if you can date and can find someone how are you supposed to start a family? Home ownership is basically dead a lot of people can't even afford to rent a house so you can't give your children a place to call home and grow up in anymore.

What really kills me though is no one will give me a chance, and I've been so beaten down, used up and sometimes just abused that every time I get rejected my mood is ruined for weeks. Last week I bumped into a cute girl at the bar, and it took me 20 mins and 2 pints just to get the nerves up to ask her if I could buy her a drink.

I wasn't creepy about I stayed a respectful distance away; I didn't touch her I took my hat off and held it to be respectful. I was dressed well hell I'd even put on cologne, still no, it's still always no. What took me 20 mins and 20 bucks to get the guts to do took her five seconds to snuff out with a smile. I'm glad a made her feel desirable and attractive I guess but the flip side of that is it made me feel like I wasn't those things. I wish woman understood what a nightmare this kind of thing is on the men's end. We don't have it nearly as good as a lot of woman think. One of my big struggles has been getting people to take my mental health seriously and with understanding rather than seeing me as weird. Thee aren't grants or anything to help people like me. I was hoping to get into equine therapy because I live out west and I love horses but it's too expensive3 and there were no grants or anything I could apply for. They exist for woman and trans people but they don't really have any for average guys most of the funding for programs like that are given to woman who have been abused etc. Men don't have the same network, resources or support we need from society that other groups do and that's why the male suicide rate is 3X higher than woman. We don't have any help and we're shown no pity.

That is something I wish people understood instead of jumping down my throat / belittling what I have to say on the merit “I don’t care” when I do. I have passion and strive to speak up so, I’ll continue. Just wished more would see that, maybe they would see what I see then we can build from there.
