If it has happened at any point of life, how many hours/days/weeks have you gone without electricity at home?

Happened very few times but yeah, I remember it was because of some blast or something. It was terrifying at night 😭

71 hours? Oh God. I was just talking about power being shut down for 7-8 hours and it was either because of blast/short circuit or heavy windstorm and heavy rainfall

Why did they turn off the power supply for that long?

No, it's not exactly waste of money. My parents keep buying new models of inverter and also battery since the last 20 years. It was quite useful everytime the light went off and they were cooking or watching something tv or sleeping during summer even if the power went off for only few minutes now and then

Once about 4 days in a very bad storm that caused a LOT of damage. I think that people (including me) do not realize hoe dependent on electricity we all are until we are without it. I have a generator now, but still... it will be barely enough to sustain me for any prolonged period of time.

During Hurricane Gloria we had no power for 10 days. We used to take my son to the fire department for his asthma treatments. He thought it was cool and the fire fighters really were nice to him. It was good it was in September and not in the winter.

One time when I was in elementary school there was a really bad storm or something and the power went out and it was out like all night and it was still out the next morning and it didn't come back on until after school was over

There has been times after a huge storm or hurricane that we have lost electricity for a few days. In my current home we have a whole home generator which will automatically start.

It happens from time to time, not as often as when I was a kid.

It usually doesn't last too long, about 2-3 hours at most.
