Hell nah dude. If i could get away with it, i would make them beg for mercy before they even realized what hit them. I am not god, so i can never forgive those who harm me directly or indirectly. But of course, i am someone who obeys the “rules” and “laws,” and i would never actually harm anyone.
I like your reply. I think you are honest here and honest to yourself! Nice one.
My first comment may have been a bit harsh, and I apologize. However, anyone who says they will forgive someone who has hurt them is clearly lying and just putting on a saintly act.
@foxsquirrell so what would you do?
Well I don't want to go to jail, so the best I can do is to supress the feeling, not think about it, but at the same time keep it in mind for future reference. I measure people in accordance to how they behaved towards me, and try to filter those who are against me, from those who are friendly.
I think forgiveness is letting go of the pain they caused you so you can go past their prejudice. Not everyone deserves it, but you owe it to yourself so you're truly free from the burden of suffering because you have risen above it; so much that the hate is not even something that you carry anymore.
Interesting. And quite a complex thought process I think. But I think I prefer to quench the pain or the insult with a merited revenge if I knew I would get away with it. That is how I feel.
Fair but even with that approach, there's room for forgiveness, ironically. But would you be truly satisfied - will your revenge be enough for you? Will it reconcile the pain or insult they caused you completely?
Could this turn into a cycle if they think like you too or your retaliation wasn't strong enough?
I would ask myself whether it would genuinely help me get to where I want to be. For me, that is usually some form of peace. If they won't let me have that, then peace won't be an option for them either~ but otherwise, I think forgiveness would allow me to turn my pain into a present for them - a quieter backfire.
Yes, I will be very satisfied to pay them back. Of course if I think that the person will have the opportunity later to get back to me with his/her revenge that would not be getting away with it! That's why I said this in the question. The best I can do is to supress the thing so that I am not bothered by it as much. But I don't like to forgive at all. People who act against me are as good as death in my mind. And if I knew that I would get away with it I would destroy them. For now I can only bide my time.
