That was absolutely supposed to be a pass to my teammate in front of the net. Goalie blocked it with his stick, but the puck took a friendly ricochet direction backwards into the net. Couldn’t believe it. I’ll take it, same goalie had just robbed me the period before🤷‍♂️😝

You ever come up with an unexpected victory when you didn’t intend for it?

yes big time for me

i was playing 5 in 3's at a studio in Nashville and a violinist for an artist had just been fired very dramatically

the music director was complaining about there goes all his time trying to replace them (a very laborious process the way they do things and with all the industry politics involved) and the guys i was playing with said, 'she can do it.' the MD said 'is that right?' and i said sure and he said alright, you're it. i didn't even have to play for him, he just went on the word of his guys

normally if i was even going for that gig i'm about 10 years too young and haven't paid my dues and all that, not nearly enough, and then the whole process of auditions and pecking orders and seniority and stepping on toes and everything else that takes at least a year to get through, but by giving this guy an easy out, i got a cushy spot completely by accident

the other issues evaporated because my agent got the record company to keep quiet and not make a big deal about it, so everyone else around town found out about it very gradually and by then i had been doing it for awhile. some eyebrows were definitely raised, and they still are sometimes, but the way they did it no one could really say anything by then

i like it so much better than playing in orchestras, though i still get to do that sometimes, the playing is easy for me but a lot of the stuff around it is very tedious, but it all works out. this summer i just got 3 months off i didn't expect, they're sort of calling me in here and there now and i have to be nearby, and in the fall i'm going to be busy for 6 months straight, but i still wouldn't trade it for anything

and they introduced me to my now-fiancé even though i made him wait around for a year before i would even go out with him

I have. I have several times been behind in sailboat races, only to have the boats in front of me sustain unforeseen accidents (mostly torn sails or jammed rigging, and one time a broken mast that I stopped and assisted with) that caused them to stop racing or fall far behind, allowing my boat and crew to win the race or at least place better. We would not have done as well were it not for accidents to other boats. I have also LOST races rather decisively because of accidents on the boat (s) I was on.

In high school, while playing basketball in Phys Ed class, I lobbed about a 40-foot "pass" meant for someone on my team which swished the twine. I'm 72;I was 14 then, and if I tried it a million more times, it might recur once or twice.

@WhiteSteve When playing industrial basketball league, I made a reverse, backhanded layup that I had practiced many times... BUT it was sheer luck that it went in... Kobe Bryant... I ain't !
