Have you ever accomplished something yourself that you originally thought was impossible for you?

It’s easy to underestimate ourselves. Have you ever accomplished something that surprised you? You just thought you would try it, or maybe even been talked into something, and it worked?

I dug my own water main out by trench shovel. Something all the neighbors hired a tractor for when theirs went. Never really thought I could finish. 2-3 hours a day for three weeks + lots of life distractions. I give all the credit to taekwondo fitness and technique striking the shovel.. and a lot to being stubborn. lol

I don't know I'm that kind of annoying person that can turn my hand to anything, and few things ever phase me. Having said that, at my last house that I lived in with my ex wife, I built my own full brick extension, I had a builder mate come round and get me started on the basics, never layed a brick in my life until that point. Didn't think I'd be able to finish it on my own, and I'd have to call him back to bail me out. But I finished the lot myself, except gelp with bits that needed 2 people, and it passed building regs with flying colours, was so please with myself, but I'm never doing it again!

I love your work ethic! You sound a lot like me! I don’t tend to think that there is much of anything I can’t do. But there are some things I don’t like to do at my age lol. I still dig trenches by hand also lol

Not completely impossible but a number of things I thought were extremely improbable. One of my ultimate was the 540 McTwist on a skateboard. It is the trick at 0:25 in the video:

I fell so many times and got injured so many times until I finally managed to land it. It really seemed almost hopeless that I'd ever get it down. It took me almost 2 years of trying for hours and hours every 5+ times/week: maybe a total of around 10,000 hours of practice doing it over and over like an insane person until I finally landed it.

Yes, pretty much everything I've done in life - education being my biggest surprise, despite of me always being good at schooling, when my head is in it.

A smaller project: I taught a kid to do push ups and sit ups correctly - only took 4 months AND I lost hope many times during that project. 😅

Yes many things. Few of them are, I always wanted to write songs when I used to write poems only but it seemed so impossible to write a decent song. Now I have written over 20 great songs. I want to be a writer and musician in future. Before I had 0 hopes for it but now there are hopes.

Congrats! Yes I have in the last year. I got extremely tired of where I was living and moved. It was a 6 month process that I totally didn't plan and had to put most of my things in storage. I didn't look for anywhere to live, which was stupid so I lived in hotels for close to 5 months before purchasing the home I'm in now. So much of that time I felt horrible. "Why did you leave something you had so set up?" Well in the past 6 I've learned for something better.

Yeah… I was told that I would be good at business while going to college… I was offered different business opportunities, I turned them down and focused on my college degree. I started my career… all well… again another business opportunity… I took it. Love it. So I now have another passion I have to deal with (running a business)… and my career.

I don't really remember but I think it's when I first started to want to walk we all have gone through this so no matter what we do in life our very first success is learning how to walk why would anybody ever I think they cannot do something when all they have to do is look back at what we've gone through how many times we have fallen down how many times we have gotten back up it doesn't matter what we do in life is long as we keep getting back up and keep going forward

I’m not one to read a lot of books but now a days I’m reading a lot of books and it makes my mom proud to see that I’m reading!
Or that I studied at a point in my life but took a break cause realized what I was studying was only 2% of the real thing

Yes, I ran a marathon. I used to be a fat kid that couldn't even run a half a mile never mind 26 miles. I trained for a couple of years, and I ran it and finished.
