"Accelerating in relation to what?", I hear you ask. Good question. What used to take me, say, ten minutes to accomplish, now takes fifteen to twenty. It's already June, but it seems like only days ago that it was 2023.

As we age, our relationship to time changes. The example given to me is as follows. When you were 4, a year was 1/4 of your entire life. When you’re 40, it’s only 1/40. Obviously a much smaller portion. No matter how hard you try to savor it, 1/40 of your favorite food won’t last as long as 1/4. So we simply can’t expect time to be any different.
As far as simple tasks taking longer, you may want to engage someone else to help determine if you’re losing some faculties. That’s pretty unusual; especially if it’s something that you do regularly.
No, time is indeed accelerating. It is in direct proportion of the rate of the universe's expansion.
the more things occupy your thoughts, the less time you are focusing on the present moment... it makes you miss some moments... minutes... hours... and then one day, you realize it's June already :)
taking step back, drinking your tea or coffee slowly, just enjoying the taste... without any other thoughts... it's an exercise to put yourself in the present moment and enjoy it
If you're 4 years old then one year equals a quarter of your life so far and thus a long time. But if you're say 40 thats 1/40th a relatively short time, our perception changes as we age.
was just going to say something similar to this...

you're not "imagining" it, it's just an illusion. you can easily understand this logically.
imagine you're one day old the day that follows on your second day of age is equal to the time you've already been alive at that point. so a day to you seems like a "very" long time. but each other day you live, the comparison time frame that is your life becomes larger and larger compared with the time that a day takes. same with weeks, months and years. that's why the time incriments seem shorter and shorter to you as you age, cause they become short and shorter compared to the time frame that you've already been alive.
If you're talking longer to do things that could be a sign of aging.
It could also be (and I'm no therapist) a sign of some mental strain. Like depression.
Either way. Time itself is still the same. But what we do with that time is constantly changing
“ What used to take me, say, ten minutes to accomplish, now takes fifteen to twenty “
That would be decelerating / slowing down.
However I do feel ya on the whole acceleration thing minus that. Could be a mixture of 1. How do you spend your time compared to the past 2. How old you are and 3. The moments you have to yourself. I think those are the biggest factors.
According to Einstein's theory, as you approach the speed of light, time slows down in a process called time dilation. That implies that the slower you go, time speeds up.
Scientists tell us that the earth's rotation is slowing down, and I definitely don't walk as fast as I used to, the older I get.
So, scientifically, since I'm slowing down, time must be accelerating.
It is just our imagination. us we get older time seems to fly for us, and according to psychologists it because we enjoy our time less as we take on more responsibilities as adults. The Earth itself is gradually spinning slower so a day is getting longer. It will eventually be 25 hours long.
My Father told me, life is like a roll of toilet paper, the more you pull off the faster it spins.
the difference is when we are young recess interrupted classes but now each day is the same repeated drudge... so the unique parts in a year seem near but short term memories get skipped or forgotten as if only a bit between
Only when you are having fun. If you are bored it slows down. 🥱
well, we're way closer to the sun nowadays, that's true...
Lol, no we are not otherwise we would fry.
@DarkLegacy right... it's more about the tilt and the poles... rather than the distance
still though... lethargy is a thing
It's hard to tell as the older you get it naturally seems that way. But I've herd theories about this happening in relation to Revelations, the last book in the Bible.
Rate of perceptive memory slows down as our brains age.
It seems the older we get the faster time passes
Indeed 😊👍🏻
I found as you get older time seems to fly by.
We tend to be busier, so the day seems to pass quickly.
Allow me to ask a scarier question... Are you perhaps slowing down?
Think of it this way. When you're 10, a year is 10% of your life. When you're 50, a year is 2% of your life. So of course a given year is going to seem to go faster.
Accelerating and it goes by quicker each year.
Time seems to go faster as we age, it's because we're more engaged in things we do perhaps.
There's a Veritasium video about it
it is, I don’t have time to explain, but it’s biblical🤨
An excellent example of inflation! 🤥😀
It does seem it is flying
Maybe because you're aging.
Time always accelerates as you get older.
You're getting older.
