For me, “The Witches” and “James and the Giant Peach” were everything as a kid, both constantly challenged for being “too dark.”

Outside Dahl, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” really stuck with me, and “The Giver” blew my tiny brain wide open. All “dangerous” apparently… but so magical 🥹📚✨

The Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, I know Why the Caged Bird sings. And though there were incidents in the book that included some vulgarity or sexually explicit or violent material, that was not the point of the book, it was simply an incident in the book that helped tell the story.

Most of the authors said most people wanting to ban their books had never read them. Closed minds close books..

I purchased Gandhi’s autobiography in high school and I believe it might have been banned during British India’s colonization of India before Gandhi used peaceful protest to have the colonizers removed from the country.
